I'm sorry but am I the only one scratching his head seeing the undercard of UFC 137?
Hatsu Hioki, ranked the #2 featherweight in the world by numorous MMA websites, is scheduled to make his UFC debut on the preliminary card. That is just ridiculous! But this is not the first time that something similar happened. Joseph Benavidez has fought twice on the undercard, and one was even a free event. It is so weird that they keep on putting these elite fighters on the undercard. Now we even have a bantamweight title fight scheduled with one 'Demetrious Johnson'. A man who has never fought on the main card, suddenly gets a title shot. How can you promote such a fight? Granted it's a free event, but we have to agree that these smaller fighters are not getting the same chances that are presented to the bigger fighters. And now Dana even wants to have a flyweight class?
They should stop putting mediocre heavyweights in front of elite bantam and featherweights, even if it does hurt business at first, it is not fair for these fighters to remain unkown to the mainstream public
