Matt Brown Replaces Pascal Krauss, Faces John Hathaway at UFC 138
It didn't take the UFC long to find a replacement opponent for John Hathaway at UFC 138, after the news broke last night that Pascal Krauss was sidelined with a shoulder injury. The promotion announced this afternoon that Matt Brown will step in against Hathaway on the November 5th card in Birmingham, England:
Pascal Krauss has been injured, forcing him to withdraw from his scheduled bout at UFC 138. Taking Krauss' place will be Matt "The Immortal" Brown, who will test his invincibility skills against rising star John "The Hitman" Hathaway. Both men have verbally agreed to the welterweight bout, UFC president Dana White announced today.
John "The Hitman" Hathaway (15-1)
Win Kris McCray (split decision) - UFN 24
Loss Mike Pyle (unam. decision) - UFC 120
Win Diego Sanchez (unam. decision) - UFC 114
Matt "The Immortal" Brown (12-10)
Win John Howard (unam. decision) - UFC on Versus 4
Loss Brian Foster (submission - guillotine) - UFC 123
Loss Chris Lytle (submission - straight armbar) - UFC 116

Meh
Matt Brown is 1-0 against British people so he’s got that going for him.
WAR LUKE!
I went whale watching the other day. I think. There were a lot of people in that lake.
If anyone deserves to get the boot its Matt Brown
Cya after this loss Immortal….what a shitty nickname
Unless, you've been pronounced clinically dead from a drug overdose,
only to be revived and dedicate your life to fighting like Matt Brown did, I don’t think you’re in any position to judge his nickname, moron.

Until he proves to the world he is truly immortal
I stand by my comment that the nickname is poop….plus he is not UFC caliber athlete
there's a new treatment that will ensure immortality
it’ll never be approved, though, cause it’ll take forever to test it

I'm picking Matt Brown
But I always pick Matt Brown. Matt Brown is awesome.

The last two performances by Hathaway were thoroughly discouraging
Getting worked by Pyle and nearly losing to Kris McCray.
I was on the bandwagon after the Sanchez fight but now it looks like he was really overhyped all along.
It’s very tempting to pick Matt Brown. I don’t recall a submission game from Hathaway so that’s a positive for Matt.

Hathaway came closs on a toehold against McCray,
but that’s about the only submission I’ve ever seen him attempt.
Matt's a tough fight for anyone
He can and has been beaten on numerous occasions but he’ll make you earn it and against a younger inexperienced fighter he has that veteran savy to break their will.

This
Matt Brown is a quality standup fighter with decent TDD really good scrambling ability (he always seems to get up within moments of being taken down if he wants to) who primarily loses when he gets it in his head that his BJJ is good. It’s not. It’s hilariously sloppy, and his attempts to gets sub usually end with him losing position.
If Hathaway can’t get Brown on the ground and keep him there, I can see Brown wearing him out on the feet over the course of the fight.

Yeah his Jits is his weakness
but he forgets that sometimes.
Learn JiuJitsu.
Always looking for that new danger.
UFC 138 main card
Leben vs. Munoz
Pickett vs. Barao
Njokuani vs. Taylor
Alves vs. Abedi
Hathaway vs. Brown
The UK is getting a SICK show! Hopefully they enjoy the 50 seconds of consciousness from Mark Munoz followed by the ensuing 5 minutes of unconsciousness.

I love Matt Brown
and I’ll root for him every time, but I always get nervous when he fights. Seems like he’s always one fight away from getting booted lately.
He should take this one though, war immortal!
Matt Brown is like Cerrone or Dan Miller in that he’ll take fights on short notice, and he’s a solid mid-tier who’ll be competitive with upper-tier guys but can beat lower-tier fighters. His taking fights on short notice has probably got him a lot of good will with UFC brass, and he generally doesn’t have boring fights.

Immortal
To the idiot trying to discredit Brown as ‘not UFC caliber’, – yes he is, that’s actually the reason he is in the UFC you utter cretin. What have you ever done? Anyway, I’m rooting for Brown in this (as ever) but I fear he may get layed and prayed out of this one.
