Yushin Okami Trying to Win Over Some Fans in Brazil

Okami posed with a Flamengo flag after yesterday’s UFC Rio Press Conference in Copacabana. This, however, should not come as a surprise, since Okami claims to be a big fan of Zico, one of Flamengo’s historical icons.

Zico played for Flamengo for most of his career and finished his career playing for a club in Japan called Kashima Antlers. Many Japanese football lovers are big fans of Zico and Okami appears to be among them as he went to the CFZ (a club created by Zico) to meet with Zico.

It will be smart of Okami to walk in to his championship fight carrying the Flamengo flag, as the club not only has the biggest fanbase in Rio, but in Brazil and in the world, with an estimated number of close to 40 million supporters only counting Brazil. There will be much to gain from such action and nothing to lose.

Since Anderson Silva is representing Corinthians, and if Okami decides to represent Flamengo on his own will, we shall have an ironic football classic match in our hands… outside the field.
