After Anderson Silva, More UFC Fighters Now Signing Deals With Brazilian Sports Clubs

Andersonsilva-_camisacorinthias_div_30_medium

Sports Clubs in Brazil are mainly known for our number one sport, football. But they also branch into different sports such as volleyball, basketball, etc., and with the international MMA league coming to Brazil, it now appears they’re getting their feet wet with our beloved sport as well. This trend started with UFC MW Champion Anderson Silva, who is represented by none other than 9ine’s Ronaldo, who more than likely facilitated for the signing of the Brazilian within the club and as a result, a signing deal with Nike. However, this trend is catching on, with the list of fighters increasing everyday.

- Anderson Silva signs with Corinthians

- Paulo Thiago signs with Cruzeiro

- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira signs with Internacional

- Edson Barboza is currently negotiating with Botafogo

- José Aldo hopes to be the next one, wishing to sign with his team of heart, Flamengo.

We should see these fighters wearing their team logos in their next fights, it’s unclear how much money they’re getting out of these deals, hopefully this trend will not stop.

Awesome

Anderson knocking out Okami, and then putting my team, Corinthians, jersey will be awesome.

Well, he is sponsored by Banco BMG

That’s almost the same as being sponsored by Atlético-MG.

Neymar is Overrated

and he has a shitty attitude to go along with it. I think he will be a flop in the big leagues.

Santos wouldn’t have captured the Libertadores without him, he’s a beast, and the attitude thing… if you can back it up, then it’s your right to be an ass: p

Thats the thing...

Hes excelling in the Brazilian league. He was pretty much invisible during the Copa and while I know he is VERY young and has tons of time to evolve but he is not very strong on the ball. He is protected in a sense in Brazil because of his “Wonder Kid” status so people shy away from hitting him with hard tackles but I feel once he joins a top league he will get exposed as players start being tougher on him. I see him as another Robinho, huge potential with an attitude that screws it all up for him.

dude

his team won the Brazilian Cup and Libertadores, Libertadores is an international club competition, one of the most important in the world, similar to Champion’s League. Trust me, he ain’t all hype, and he’s the target of some very violent fouls in Brazil and abroad.

I call you, I talk to me - Anderson Silva

Lol I can see for one reason or another you're biased

But all I have to say is we’ll see when he joins a premier league

by DCJon. on Aug 25, 2011 4:24 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not being biased, I have no allegiance to Santos

only stating facts.

you’ll get a chance to see his skills with the team he’s more comfortable with when they go against Barcelona later this year, that’s gonna be an insane game! but like I said, no bias here, but when I see greatness I see greatness :p

If Barca plays its starting line

Santos has no chance. Barca has been able to make the best teams in the world look average, Santos will be way overmatched.

by DCJon. on Aug 25, 2011 5:30 PM EDT up reply actions

we'll see :p

and I’m not downplaying Barcelona, I just think very highly of Santos’ current squad (with Ganso back nonetheless).

Nautico was originally a rowing club. I guess rowing doesn’t have quite the enduring fanbase it once did. It’s hard to imagine a “Who is the best rower?” debate lasting very long.

Getting bent out of shape over a fight promoter lying is like getting upset that a hooker won't kiss you. It betrays a deep lack of understanding of the nature of the profession.

Flamengo was a rowing club too

WTF is this brazilian football crap?

The Premiership is where it’s at!

1. Anderson Silva is waiting for you to punch him.
2. That guy is Anderson Silva.
3. Don't fucking punch that guy.
