The return of ProElite has been met with mixed feelings due to the bad taste left in the mouths of fans after the failure of the first incarnation. The new company has former Icon promoter T. Jay Thompson calling the shots while Rich Chou fills the role of match maker, a position he held at Strikeforce prior to the sale to Zuffa. The first event is set for Hawaii, a market that both T. Jay and Chou know inside and out.
Andrei Arlovski headlines the August 27th event against Ray Lopez, perhaps the most important fight of Andrei's declining career. A loss to an unknown fighter at this point could and should spell the end of Arlovski's involvement in professional combat sports. Kendall Grove clashes with Joe Riggs in the co-main event which is Grove's first fight outside of the UFC. Finally, the event features Reagan Penn making his professional MMA debut.
The card streams live on Sherdog immediately after the conclusion of UFC 134 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
