this is THE fight on this card.
Oliveira and Cerrone has some significance too, but not as much. Miller is going to Sotiropolous around and lose his title shot if he isn’t careful.

Gotiropolous never deserved to be considered in line for a title shot, IMO. Look at his wins. Not a single win over a guy anywhere close top 10. Let’s stop with the “G-Sot got robbed of a title shot” line of thought, please.
Couldn't you make the same argument with Jim's current win streak?
That said, I love Jim and hope he gets that title shot if he wins Sunday.
Absolutely. Jim still has to beat a top 10 guy. That’s why I’m not that pissed off that he still hasn’t received a title shot even with a 6-7 win streak; he still; he has yet to beat an actual top 10 guy. If he beats Bendo, that’s a solid win, and combine that with a win over Guillard or Guida, and he’s the clear #1 contender. As it is, he’s simply on a nice win streak against good guys, but not much more than that, IMO.
Melvin guillard will get next title shot

I’d be fine with a fight between Guillard and the winner of Miller/Bendo to determine who gets the next title shot after Edgar/Maynard figure it out.
that would be a fun fight
Melvin would be hard for either Miller or Bendo to get past.

You know, I just realized they have a common opponent in Mark Bocek. I thought Bocek won the fight against Miller (even though he lost,) whereas I though Ben Henderson beat Bocek much more definitively. Of course, MMA math ain’t perfect, but Henderson’s athleticism seems to ne a huge factor.

I keep thinking how Bendo(a wrestler) got beat by Pettis
who was somewhat exposed by Guido’s wrestling. But yet Bendo fared better against Bocek, who some people think beat MIller. Yeah MMAth.

The thing with Pettis vs Henderson is that one was five rounds, whereas Guida vs Pettis was three rounds. In five rounds, the fighters have to pace themselves differently, and there’s more room for anything to happen (Pettis kick).

Also
Bendo fought both on the ground and on the feet when it was called for, he didn’t just go for non-stop ground stalling…

Bendo said in an interview that he didn't follow the gameplan his coaches came up with against Pettis
According to him, his coaches told him to grind Pettis down on the ground (a la Guida), but he got caught up in the moment and wanted to showcase his striking vs. Pettis, so he didn’t focus on keeping the fight on the ground, like he should have.
