RECcing Machine: Improving the Quality of Greened Comments

The rec button is a pretty powerful tool here on BE. It is not to be confused with the "like" button on Facebook (some people "like" status updates like it's their job or something) nor the "thumbs up" button on YouTube (I hate Justin Bieber, can I get a thumbs up?). Getting a rec here in BE is way cooler. For one, it gives a boost of camaraderie in the comments section. It's good to know that there are people agreeing with your idea, no matter how corny that might sound. If you get lucky, your comment might get 3 recs and be greened, making your comment pop out and increasing the chances that others will read it (when I'm bored reading all comments, I only read greened ones). The rec button also challenges each others' ideas and helps you sort out the "more popular" arguments of a +500-comment post. And perhaps the coolest rec function is making you look like a lunatic laughing at greened pictures of the stanky leg or any comment bashing Subo and Black Lesnar while everyone in the office stares at you.

However, there are also times when the rec button has been abused, like this fanpost from months ago and this long-ass sentence entry just very recently. I know butchering the comments section with green comments can be fun (legendary) but then, is it possible that the moderators increase the number of recs before a comment be greened? I think this will be a good way to challenge BE commenters to come up with snarkier remarks, more challenging arguments and new comedic material (because the C'monSon.gif is getting really stale).
