Chiquerim Out, Fickett In at Dream Fight for Japan on July 16th
This might be Drew Fickett's last chance on a big stage, so he better take advantage of it. Willamy "Chiquerim" Friere has been removed from the next Dream card, and Fickett will take his place against Tatsuya Kawajiri. MMAFighting has it:
The promotion announced that former Shooto champ Willamy "Chiquerim" Freire has suffered a hand injury and so has been forced out of his anticipated July 16 matchup with recent Strikeforce lightweight challenger Tatsuya Kawajiri. Stepping in to face Kawajri on 11 days notice will be 55-fight veteran Drew Fickett.
Fickett is coming off a very disappointing first round TKO loss to Brian Cobb at MFC 30 last month. He had been on a five-fight winning streak before that. Kawajiri's last outing was a lopsided loss to Gilbert Melendez in Strikeforce back in April.
Another fight annouced for the card by Dream officials sees Tatsuya Mizuno fighting veteran Trevor Prangley. The Dream Fight for Japan: 2011 Japan GP Final card takes place in the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo on July 16th. The card also features Hiroyuki Takaya defending his Dream featherweight title against Kazuyuki Miyata, Dream light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi defending against Hiroshi Izumi, Hayato Sakurai facing Marius Zaromskis, and the Japan bantamweight grand prix finals between Masakazu Imanari and Hideo Tokoro.
Drew Fickett (41-14)
Loss Brian Cobb - TKO (Punches) MFC 30
Win Matt Veach - Submission (Armbar) MFC 28
Win Carlo Prater - Submission (Rear Naked Choke) Shine LWGP

don't write Mizuno off
he’s good when fighting at the good weight class.
I really don’t know what happened to Fickett when he fought Cobb. Fickett had his back for a long time, got reversed, and all of a sudden got ground n pounded to a TKO loss. With that loss, I don’t expect Fickett to do well against Kawajiri who is an extremely aggressive fighter.

Fickett can't do any worse than Willamy would have.
What everyone needs to do is calm down, take a deep breath, and prepare their bodies for the Thunderdome.

Did DREAM get their financial situation sorted out?
Otherwise, I’m surprised that the fighters (esp. the non-Japanese ones) are still showing up for them to fight.
