Its rare

But I have to agree with Snowden on this one.

Fedor still would of still lost no doubt, but if this is to be his last fight let the man go out on his shield ffs.

It seems that mostly title fights get the “fatality treatment” where the only way the fight gets stopped is either a tapout or going limp for an extended period of time (5 seconds).

People do not like to think. If one thinks, one must reach conclusions. Conclusions are not always pleasant.

i guess guys want the pride treatment keep fighting until someone stops moving

pride refs were the best you get punched or kicked out the ring. can he still move toss him back in so the fans can get some more blood. if you lose by ko i guess it has to be leben vs silva style everytime. or the fans going cry about it. the fact is a ko is a ko in mma. be it a flash ko or you asleep until the medical staff comes. mma doesn’t have a 10 count fedor caught his a flash ko the ref saw it he came to save the fighter. i guess people don’t want fighters to fight another day. i guess people want all guys when they retire from the game to be like chuck.

Well put

People don’t understand. A ko is a ko. I saw posts last night" oh it was just a flash he woke up and defended". Well people a ko isn’t good for the ok’d noggin a fight has to b stopped when it happens. That is what occurred last night.

it was a questionable stoppage

But the way hendo was swinging for the kill you’d think as soon as Fedor rolled over he would’ve gotten clocked cold.

Fedor tried to get in the nogueira ‘half awake guard’ but I didn’t see it going to work.

What we should be talking about is the bombs to the back of the head. They weren’t pillow fisted punches

good job by herb dean

Could of been better if he would of stop the fight the second fedor when face first limp to the mat he shouldn’t have had to take those unessacary punches from henderson

It wasn't too soon, good job by Herb!

Fedor was O-U-T OUT with that uppercut. Tbe rest of the punches woke him back up. Congrats to Dan for showing the world once again how over-rated Fedor was/is. Go ahead and blast me fanboys, but your tubby man-crush is done. Beat by a BJJ guy, beat by a giant, and beat by a guy smaller than him. It’s over

Unconscious is unconscious

No matter if it’s a flash KO or a legend of the sport, when you’re out, the fight needs to be stopped. People citing fights that have been allowed to continue after someone gets put out then revived needs to call THOSE fights the problem, not the ones that are stopped upon unconsciousness. Dean made a heat of the moment call that stands up to slo-mo, and different angle gifs without thought of legacy, or Fedor’s 2 other recent losses, or controversial fan reaction. but only with fighter safety in mind. We’ve all seen terrible early stoppages over the years, this wasn’t one of them.

Dean had a split second to make a call that we get all the time in the world to over analyze

He made a decision and stuck with it and I can respect that. But we’ve seen guys in as bad or worse situations as Fedor and fight through, and I always hate to see I fight stopped when a fighter is attempting to intelligently defend himself (rolling to half-guard is an intelligent defense).

I see what prompted the stop, but I think Herb acted too quickly.

Henderson might have did some serious, serious damage if Herb dean didn’t step in when he did. Good stoppage.

Fedor was long past the point of recovery there, he was toast. EPIC EPIC fight though…
everyone give the bad stoppage thing a rest, these guys are sports athletes you know, not just pixels on your screen.

by moonlapse88 on Jul 31, 2011 2:31 PM EDT reply actions

Far from a bad stoppage

Fedor went completely limp , eyes shut and everything, from an uppercut for at least 2-3 seconds.. He got knocked out and it was stopped. Very good stoppage imo.

At first I questioned it , but then replays showed justice.

by Mantis xX on Jul 31, 2011 5:35 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

After someone loses consciousness it should be over

Even if for a second. If u get a concussion bad enough that you’re unconscious, any additional trauma is so damaging that it can change your life. From what I’ve heard. This isn’t Brock v Carwin or Nog v ….a lot of people, Fedor was unconscious.

If anything it was a late stoppage

I may be 3 years late to the party(dont watch MTV), but Bully Beatdown is an amazing show and Mayhem is the fucking man.

So glad that Snowden no longer writes for BE...

If only we could get BE to stop linking to his posts.

Snowden deserves apathy from MMA at large.

The dude abides.
