Top 20 Rematches i'd like to see since UFC 100

In no particular order of interest

1) Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Alan Belcher: I'd really like to see this rematch because it was very close and exciting fight that most people thought Belcher won at UFC 100, so it would bring closure and they are middle of the pack fighters at middleweight so it makes sense.

2) Nate Diaz vs Melvin Guillard: I'd like to see a rematch because of the way Melvin Guillard has evolved and to see if it was a fluke loss or Diaz's submission prowness was just too much for Guillard, and these are two of the most entertaining lightweights that the UFC have.

3) Carlos Condit vs Jake Ellenberger: It was one of the most explosive and entertaining match ups i've ever seen at welterweight and they are both top 10 welterweight fighters.

4) Ortiz vs Grffin  : For closure purposes only because both their fights went to split decision and now is the time to do it again because they are both top 10 fighters now.

5) Josh Koscheck vs Anthony Johnson: I want to see without all the excuses and the stoppage in the fight if Johnson could of really defeated Koscheck because it seems at the time that Johnson could of defeated a perenial top 5 contender so this is for closure also.

6) Roy Nelson vs Brendan Schaubb : It's all about evolution i would like to see if Nelson's win over Schaubb was a fluke because Nelson just left the top 10 and Schaubb just entered.

7) Thiago Silva vs Rashad Evans: Their third was so exciting that i just wished at the time it was 5 round main event and i can feel the upset achieving it self the second time around.

8) Joe Lauzon vs Sam Stout: They both came off fights that looked like they could of killed their opponent LOL !

9) Wanderlei Silva vs Michael Bisping: Close bout and the two fighters have changed dramaticly so why not give a chance to have Bisping get another TKO/Ko victory or Wanderlei to re energize his career.

10) Frank Mir vs Shane Carwin: Can Frank Mir actually beat Shane Carwin why not try again since they have no upcoming bout , and how fun would it be to see Carwin knock out Mir again.

11) Ross Pearson vs Denis Siver: I honestly don't think Pearson could defeat the '' new '' Denis Siver and why not see a match up between two of the best technical strikers in the division go at it.

12) Carlos Condit vs Rory Mcdonald: Those two young contenders went at it at UFC 115 and it's the best fight Vancouver has ever seen in it's history and all the fans over the world loved it so let's do this again

13) Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Chris Leben: This fight was a finalist for the best fight of 2010 , so let's do it again so maybe it could become 2011's best  fight .

14) Shane Carwin vs Brock Lesnar: I don't need to say anything.

15) Chael Sonnen vs Anderson SIlva : The king of MMA vs the king of Trash Talking/Wrestling, no one has ever has been this close to defeat Silva so maybe second time is the charm.

16)Quinton Jackson vs Lyoto Machida: I just want to see the score being settled and to see who is the better mixed martial artist.

17) BJ Penn vs Jon Fitch: Like at 15 i want to see who's the better welterweight between them . And even suprisingly their bout was exciting.

18) Diego Sanches vs Martin Kampmann : Their bout is probably the fight of the year so why not do it again and they are in the same position ranking wise.

19) Kongo vs Barry: I don't need to say anything

20) Dominick Cruz vs Urijah Faber: For the matter of a rubber match because honestly i didn't think there was any controversy with the win Dominick won 3 rounds to 2.

let me pick at yours picks and tell you why some just can't happen

1. no one cares about belcher. as you see sexyama is fighting vitor and alan is ………
2. nick is rebounding he won’t be getting a person so far up on the ladder. the only reason melvin lost that fight was because got impatient
3.again same with the melvin vs nick fight carlos i high up on the ladder his next fight is b.j.
4. yeah that could work if forrest loses to shogun
5. no way because johnson needs to get more fights under his belt. plus kos was cheating and pulling alot of b.s. in that fight.
6. no way big country got him because he is just not that good. cro crop was rallying back beore he got knocked out.
7. no way just like those other fights shad is to high up the ladder.
8. that could happen but joe has melvin and i think stout got a fight as well
9. no one cares about bisping who is he fighting next……
10. that could happen but i don’t think it would go the same way. frank is growing into the bigger body. he would have learned from the last fight.
11. siver just got a gimmie and is high up on the ladder
12. if carlos loses to b.j. then yeah that could happen. the only problem is even though rory is getting better. carlos is getting better as well.
13. that would be good but once vitor beats sexyama he is out the ufc
14. yeah that works
15. nope he already got his shot grappled him for almost 5 rounds and silva tries one sub and gets him. chael has some horrible sub defense but we already knew that
16. nope that is not a figth people care about jackson is getting the title fight. how about lyoto vs rashad now that is a fight people will want to see
17. yawnnnnnn oh did you mention fitch don’t you know by now fitch equals fail. that is why b.j. is fightinf carlos
18. i feel martin got robbed he needs a win. the other guys is getting hughes martin needs a fight for sure he can win to get him back into the mix.
19. nope the story to that continues because kongo is fighting pat’s training buddy matt mitrione. do you even pay attention to what goes on here at bloody elbow
20. just like 19 the story continues. he will get his shot if he beats the next guy they give him. cruz has to defend first against mighty mouse i see that being a good fight.

by the way i’m not saying those are the next match ups i want to see i ‘m just saying i’d like to see these rematches some time in the future

You make some good points there, but most people would rather see Rampage/Lyoto again because it was a close fight and people disagreed with the decision. There’s no clamor for Rashad/Lyoto II. It just sounded good when Phil Davis pulled out. I would like to see Belcher/Akiyama again, but you’re right, Belcher can’t sustain any momentum and people forget about him.

Yeah, Belcher couldn't sustain any momentum...

because he had to have emergency eye surgery to save his vision. He’s been out for a while. Once he gets back in and gets his groove back, he’ll be back in the thick of things.

Belcher’s been on the down-low because he had a career-threatening eye injury that has sidelined him for a year, not because of disinterest. Believe me, people care about Belcher, watch his Cote fight again if you disagree. Dude was making a huge run.

Jesus man.

They were fights HE would want to see. Not fights the UFC should put together.

big Nat...

for 1, number 2 its Nate Diaz, not Nick….for 2 number 15…silva tried subbing Chael once?? Bullshit, he tried consistently thruout this fight to sub Chael, that shows your ignorance, period…and NOBODY gives a damn about Jon Fitch, we know what were getting with his fights…..BOREDOM!!!!

Some of these matchups are intriguing, without a doubt.

However, the UFC always seems really reluctant to promote non-main event matchups, at least by recent memory.

To be fair

I saw some of your other work, and this post is like 1000x better than they were.

by Hashmo on Jul 27, 2011 10:42 PM EDT up reply actions

I like a lot of these

I think there might be a few which are pointless to list just given where guys are in their careers at this point. The few I think we will be seeing:

Faber vs Cruz 3: Most likely Cruz beats “Mighty Mouse” and they already said winner of Bowles/Faber gets a title shot, so I think that Faber wins against Bowles.

Condit vs MacDonald: I think BJ will beat Condit and they will probably be building up Rory MacDonald slowly, so If Rory wins his next fight and Condit does lose to BJ, that’s a pretty good match up.

Kampmann vs Sanchez: I think neither of these guys are gonna be going for a title run and if Kampmann can convince the guys upstairs to let him go and avenge the poor judging decisions they’ll let him face Sanchez and maybe even Shields again.

Ortiz vs Griffin: I almost guarantee this fight will happen. If they both lose their next fights (which is likely) then this fight will be made.

Chael vs Anderson: The world wants to see this. I don’t think Chael wins or does half as well as he did the first time around, but Chael will beat Stann, Anderson will crush Chael’s mancrush and this match will be made.

Rampage vs Machida: I don’t know when but this is a fight I could see being made

by Hashmo on Jul 27, 2011 10:41 PM EDT reply actions

When Carlos beats BJ,

they should have Rory vs. BJ. That’s a great fight as well.

I’ll at least agree that it’s a toss-up. Just playing, but I do think Carlos will take this.

Mac would be a huge step down from a victory over BJ at this point. Condit should be getting the next title shot with a win at that point.

Huh? BJ vs. Rory is what I suggested

my bad

I was thinking you were going with the original suggestion of Condit-Rory. BJ-Rory makes more sense in that situation.

No worries...

I was being a smartass there anyway:) Got what I deserved.

Whaaaaa the FUCK???

Rory doesnt deserve a fight with BJ right now…because Rory is still Green and were talking about BJ FUCKING Penn!!!

by Curtis Wooden on Jul 29, 2011 1:16 AM EDT up reply actions

I wasn’t even trying to troll you, and yet you went full-on BJ Penn fanboy here. “Deserve”? WTF are you talking about? Rory’s a damn good fighter, and if BJ loses, and Rory wins his next, why the hell not? That’d be a great fight, and would probably put BJ back on track. Remember, the scenario is based on BJ losing to Carlos. You want to see him fight Fitch again that badly? I realize you think BJ will beat Carlos, and you may be right, but BJ isn’t above fighting anyone in the top ten.

Calm down man

This is what? Your 7th fanpost? You’ve been a member how long? This is actually pretty good but it is impossible to make quality posts at this rate. Take more time and make a fanpost that isn’t such a long list, it will be much better.

Let the fighters fight, let the referees ref, but dear God, don't let the judges judge.

Absolutely NO.

Instead, keep putting out fanposts like this one. Much improved and it’s good to actually see your thoughts behind the matchups.

Interesting topic + rationalizing your choices=good work.

While I disagree with some of your choices above, this was much better and enjoyable. Nice job!

Rematches that I would like to see in general

Condit vs Shields, Condit vs Kampmann

Basically, I’m saying I want Condit to avenge those losses.

I agree, particularly the Kampmann fight, which was one of the best fights in recent memory IMO. I think he could take Shields, but I fear it might look a lot like Kampmann’s fight with Jake, and until the judging changes, no thanks:)

I don’t have a problem with rematches, but there are also a lot of first time matches out there I think could be interesting.

The thing about rematches is, sometimes it’s obvious when one guy has moved on and the other hasn’t, so there isn’t a need for the rematch. Sometimes we are just better off with the memories of the first fight.

Some listed above definitely need to happen and probably sooner rather than later.

Ans we definitely need Mir/Lesnar 3, just so we can see Mir meltdown, lol.

Jon Jones VS Shogun (with a real shogun not a hospital few months recovered one)

yeah i guess a lot of people wont agree, but! i persist in saying that the shogun we saw vs jon jones isn’t the one we know…he s condition an stamina had nothing to compare with the shogun from the machida’s match…
