Manny Gamburyan vs. Diego Nunes and Takeya Mizugaki vs. Cole Escovedo Added to UFC 135

Photo

The UFC's lightest two weight classes are getting some more booking love from the promotion this evening, as a bantamweight and a featherweight bout have been added to September's UFC 135 card in Denver. Manny Gamburyan will face Diego Nunes, and Cole Escovedo will meet Takeya Mizugaki, as announced by the UFC this evening:

Four of the UFC's lighter weight warriors will be back in the Octagon for September 24th's UFC 135 card in Denver, as verbal agreements are in for a featherweight bout between Diego "The Gun" Nunes and Manny Gamburyan, and a bantamweight scrap pitting Cole Escovedo against Takeya Mizugaki.

All four of these men are looking to get back into the win column. Nunes dropped a hard fought decision to Kenny Florian last month at UFC 131, while Gamburyan lost an even closer decision to Tyson Griffin at UFC on Versus 4. Escovedo and Mizugaki also suffered decision losses in their last fights with Escovedo falling to Brazilian phenom, Renan Barao at UFC 130 (albeit on short notice), and Mizugaki getting outpointed by Brian Bowles at UFC 132.

With all four men obviously hungry to avoid another loss, the Denver fans should be treated to some good action from the "little guys". Here's how the UFC 135 card is currently shaping up:

-Jon Jones vs. Quinton Jackson - UFC light heavyweight championship
-Diego Sanchez vs. Matt Hughes
-Ben Rothwell vs. Mark Hunt
-Travis Browne vs. Rob Broughton
-Takanori Gomi vs. Nate Diaz
-Norifumi Yamamoto vs. Damacio Page
-Nick Ring vs. Tim Boetsch
-Tony Ferguson vs. Aaron Riley
-James Te Huna vs. Ricardo Romero
-Manny Gamburyan vs. Diego Nunes
-Takeya Mizugaki vs. Cole Escovedo

I like Mizugaki a lot

But he’s just not good enough to be at the top. Hopefully he beats Escovedo because all of his fights are entertaining.

I went whale watching the other day. I think. There were a lot of people in that lake.

Lol

Gomi vs Nate doesn’t get you excited? Diego and Matt isn’t going to be crazy? Two HW’s fights that will be finishes. I dunno buddy, there’s a lot of badass on this card.

The key is to hit the guy in the jaw really hard before the other guy does it to you.

Not a bad card

but still an appetizer to the main courses that are 136, and 137. Kid/Page, and Gomi/Diaz are awesome fights. I like Gambruyan/Nunes, and I think Nunes should win, if his takedown defense against Florian (who himself dummied Guida in the wrestling department) is any indication, he should have no problem putting together combinations against Manny’s static overhand right ad nothing else attack. Mizugaki should pick up the win, but he barely got by Reubans, and tends to fight to the level of his competition, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Escovedo gave him trouble.

Manny "Cheap Shot" Gamburyan

Gamburyan,s only chance is to land that pre-fist bump spinning back kick. Otherwise Nunes has this one in the bag.
I think it’ll look a lot like his fight with Aldo.
