Report: Michihiro Omigawa vs. Jason Young, Mark Scanlon vs. James Head Added to UFC 138
The fight bookings for the UFC's return to England in November are coming fast and furious with most of the promotion's British fighters being locked up for bouts on the card. Two more match-ups were reported this morning with Fighters Only getting word of Michihiro Omigawa and Jason Young agreeing to a featherweight contest, and Jay Furness at YourMMA.tv reporting a welterweight bout between Mark Scanlon and James Head.
Omigawa last saw action in Vancouver at UFC 131 where he loss a very controversial decision to Darren Elkins, despite Omigawa seemingly controlling the action and doing more damage over the course of three rounds. Jason Young, meanwhile, fought on the same card on short notice against Dustin Poirier, and put up a competitive fight despite dropping a decision. As a result the Brit has been rewarded with a full training camp and fight in front of his hometown British fans.
Scanlon vs. Head should prove to be a grappling battle, as Scanlon boasts five submission victories via a variety of chokes, armbars and leglocks, and holds a purple belt in Luta Livre under Marcelo Brigadeiro, who teaches the grappling art at Team Kaobon in Liverpool. Head, on the other hand, is a practitioner of more traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and holds a purple belt himself, under BJJ phenom Rafael Lovato. Head will also be dropping down to 170 lbs for this fight after making his UFC debut at middleweight in a loss to Nick Ring.
Here's how the UFC 138 card is currently stacking up:
-Chris Leben vs. Mark Munoz
-Thiago Alves vs. Papy Abedi
-Brad Pickett vs. Renan Barao
-Anthony Njokuani vs. Paul Taylor
-Terry Etim vs. Edward Faaloloto
-Michihiro Omigawa vs. Jason Young
-Mark Scanlon vs. James Head
-John Hathaway vs. TBA

Omigawa better fuck this slack jawed yokel up.
or I’m going to cry.
and if he doesn't i fear it is the end of the road for him with the ufc
hopefully it can stick around until the ufc goes to japan. same for akiyama.
I don't think so
He was highly sought by the UFC and Dana gave him a win bonus last fight though he technically lost. I think in the bosses eyes, he has 2 more losses before he gets cut.
Assuming the first 4 fights are the main card
This just needs one co-main and it’s actually a fairly good televised show.
And don’t say Sherk vs. Guida because there is no way the UFC would willingly put Sherk in that main or co-main slot ever again.
the chris leben fight
As a five founder is the big announcement. Which just goes to show how shitty these announcements can be

Michi/Young should be a fun one.
I don’t know who the hell Scanlon is though.
What everyone needs to do is calm down, take a deep breath, and prepare their bodies for the Thunderdome.

Even more so than other cards from England
This seems to be a perfectly middle-of-the-road card.
i think you mean this card is like a turd that wont flush. i’d rather you guys in the US kept this one. we’d prefer a proper ufc to come to england rather than this insult
I was trying to be polite!
These matches mostly don’t mean much in the grand scheme of the UFC. Leben vs. Munoz isn’t even a co-main event. It’s a free card, and it’s quite a few weeks away, but I already want my money back!

It's not that terrible
Compared to 120, which was completely uninteresting outside of the main and co-main.
Omigawa!! He was robbed in his last fight. I hope he satus around. He should be able to control young on the ground.

I looke at the lineup
and was underwhelmed, then looked up and saw this was in the UK. It certainly isn’t Hendo/Rampage, but not bad either.
