Tim Credeur Set to Face Brad Tavares at UFC 137

Photo

"Crazy" Tim Credeur will likely be fighting with his job at UFC 137 on October 29th. With two losses in a row his back is against the wall, and he'll be facing Brad Tavares, who is also coming off a loss and looking to re-establish himself. .The middleweight bout was announced by the UFC today:

Verbal agreements are in for a middleweight bout between "Crazy" Tim Credeur vs. Brad Tavares at UFC 137, Dana White confirmed.

Credeur — Louisiana’s first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt — hit the public eye as a member of the TUF 7 house; Hawaiian Tavares was a season 11 standout.

Credeur returned after an 18-month layoff last month, but was TKO'd by Ed Herman in just 48 seconds. The 34-year-old hopes to turn things around against Tavares, the hard-hitting Hawaiian who suffered the first loss of his career at the hands of wrestler Aaron Simpson at UFC 132. The bout is expected to take place on the preliminary card.

Tim Credeur (12-4)
Loss Ed Herman - TKO (Punches) TUF 13 Finale
Loss Nate Quarry - Decision (Unanimous) UFN 19
Win Nick Catone - Submission (Guillotine Choke) UFN 18

Brad Tavares (7-1)
Loss Aaron Simpson - Decision (Unanimous) UFC 132
Win Phil Baroni - KO (Knees and Punches) UFC 125
Win Seth Baczynski - Decision (Unanimous) TUF 11 Finale

Don't get me wrong

I like Credeur, but he can’t take this to the ground when Simpson had such a difficult time with it, and on the feet he gets lit up. Sorry d00d.

It's not like Crederur every really used his ground game that much, either.

True story

You’d just like to think he’d rely on it more knowing his job is likely on the line, but that never stopped Gurgel either.

Damn skippy.

I’ve had classes with a training partner of his. He tried to get me to join his gym, but I can’t afford it.

Yeah I went there for a few months but real life set in quickly

I like Credeur, but I have to agree. Tavares is a prospect in the UFC Middleweight Division that keeps improving. His takedown defense against Simpson was very good, and he has the heavier hands. On the feet, Credeur is just so wild.
I think that Tavares could actually be a top ten Middleweight in the future.

I'm with you on Tavares

Not a lot of people agree, which surprises me. I thought he looked a lot better than Simpson, but that’s the nature of the beast. He came out looking like the better fighter, despite losing, and that doesn’t happen much.

Tavares will ruin him

Sig betting against The-gentle-way is like playing Russian Roulette with a semi-automatic weapon. The only thing he knows more about than fighting is pleasing women, and my girlfriend is thankful for that.

its his schtick.

You guys missed Bart Palaszewski vs. Tyson Griffin at 137 too

137 is almost too good to be true.

This fight should be entertaining but I expect Tavares to knock out Credeur after watching the Herman fight.

I wish.

But Tim leaves his head straight up and Tavares has some nasty power.

Only way I see Tim winning is if he gets rocked, Tavares follows him down and gets submitted.

Me too man.

There are only a few fighters I root for regardless of the opponent, and Tim’s one of them.

Surprised

They didn’t book credeur for the new Orleans card

by Scott Haber on Jul 20, 2011 9:14 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

Maybe he got a medical suspension from the Herman fight?

I’m pretty sure I remember him saying that he wanted to fight on that card.

Hopefully my boy Brad can

Bounce back after that bullshit fight with Stallson…..oh I mean Simpson.

I'm with you.

I normally don’t get pissed during fights, but I was screaming at my computer.

I have no interest in ever watching Simpson fight, unless it’s against Cain Velasquez or JDS.

Yeah I could definitely go the rest of my life without watching Simpson fight.

Credeur: I’m so excited!

Credeur: Ma. I am stoked to finally get a fight on a @ufc with numbers! I will not dissappoint! #ufc137

I like Tavares in this one. His wrestling looked great (TDD) against Simpson, and his hands are sharp enough to put Credeur out. Tim is just too hittable to pick with any confidence against Tavares.

Hit straight, hit hard, lift heavy.
