One of the top prospects out of Brazil will finally step up to the plate in Strikeforce. Last month it was reported that Marcos Rogerio "Pezao" de Lima had signed with the company, and now it appears that he'll jump into the deep end of the light heavyweight division immediately to fight veteran Mike Kyle. Sherdog has it:
Considered one of the best 205-pound prospects in Brazil, Marcos Rogerio "Pezao" de Lima is finally set to make his Strikeforce debut.
"They just confirmed I'll face Mike Kyle on Sept. 10," de Lima told Sherdog.com Tuesday. The Sept 10th card has no slated venue or city yet, but will feature the semifinals of the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix and will air live on Showtime.
De Lima has started his career with an 8-0 mark, which includes six TKO and one submission stoppage. His last win was the most impressive of his career as he took a unanimous decision from former WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho in October. Kyle hasn't competed since he stepped up to heavyweight on late notice and lost via TKO to Antonio Silva. He had Silva badly hurt in the first round of the fight, but broke his hand and ended up getting finished himself midway through the second round.
