Canadian welterweight Ryan "The Real Deal" Ford (16-3) has signed with Bellator and will make his debut in October. He announced it on his facebook page today:

"The Real Deal Will Be Keepin It GDUP For Bellator Fighting Championships. Debut In October @ Casino Rama Then The 170lb 100k Tournament In January 2012 Representing E-Town And Canada!!!!"

Ford has won four fights in a row, including a TKO stoppage of Karo Parisyan in May.

wasn’t the Karo stoppage due to a cut? I remember reading that Karo was winning before a cut ended the fight in the third.

Ford is a great athlete but he usually has trouble with any step up in competition. I’m fairly sure he would have trouble with most of the Bellator welterweights. Good signing either way.

This is a good signing for Bellator. I’ve seen Ford fight in MFC many times, and he is on a win streak over some names like Pete Spratt and Karo Parisyan.
