The UFC has been rapidly building their September and October cards this weekend, but November's UFC 138 in San Jose got a little love last night as well as the promotion announced that rising middleweight prospect, Chris Weidman, will face fan-favorite, Tom Lawlor at the November 19th event:

SO MANY MATCHUPS
I bet that today and tomorrow 138 will come together.
Let the fighters fight, let the referees ref, but dear God, don't let the judges judge.
I was literally just wondering when Weidman's next fight would be
I like Lawlor…but I believe Weidman takes this.

Also a fun fact
This is going to be the first fight Weidman has had full notice and camp-time for.
His first two fights were short notice. Bongfeldt wasn’t as short notice as Sakara, which was like 2 weeks…but McGee pulled out against Bongfeldt before Weidman stepped up…I wanna say something like 6 weeks notice.
Either way…I’m interested in seeing a ‘fully camped’ Weidman.

Wonder if Lawlor will be done after this fight.
What everyone needs to do is calm down, take a deep breath, and prepare their bodies for the Thunderdome.

How has Weidman not been impressive?
He dominated Sakara on two weeks’ notice, and then nearly snapped Bongfeldt’s head off with a nasty standing guillotine?
Lawlor has no advantages in this fight other than in the goofy costume department.

Don't dismiss the costume factor.

He struggled to get takedowns on Sakara and barely won 2 rounds in that fight.
The standing guillotine win in his last fight tells more about Jesse Bongfeldt’s lack of skill than anything
Weidman took the Sakara fight on two weeks notice. Also, it was his first fight in the UFC, and his fifth professional MMA fight overall. He’ll have a full training camp for this fight against Lawlor. I do feel that Lawlor may have the better standup here, but Weidman with a full training camp should have the better wrestling.

Lawlor may have the advantage in the standup department, but otherwise, I have Weidman winning this one. I can see Weidman taking this to the ground and winning from top control.

I don't think Lawlor even has a striking advantage,
and Weidman definitely has better wrestling and submissions.
If I’m not mistaken, Weidman was hit flush before getting Bongfeldt to the ground. I question Weidman’s defense in the standup especially so early in his MMA career. Lawlor has shown some decent standup against Aaron Simpson and Joe Doerksen even though he ended up losing those fights. I’m just going by what I have seen, but I will admit that I don’t have the best basis for Weidman’s standup simply because I haven’t seen a lot of it.

I hope not
I’m a big fan of his. This just strikes me as a bad matchup. He’s coming off of an injury, and will have not fought in over a year.

Lawlor just isn't particularly good.
You can only live off of a sub win over CB Dollaway for so long. Even Amir isn’t doing that.
What everyone needs to do is calm down, take a deep breath, and prepare their bodies for the Thunderdome.

I know, he's not great
But I just like the guys personality, and he’s a bit of a character with his wild entrances and etc…I would just like to see him succeed and stay with the promotion a bit longer because I think those kind of guys are good to keep around.
Not as good as a hot rising prospect like Weidman, who I am a huge fan of, but still.

Patrick Cote was a good win

I know its not pronounced like that but come on
And in the pic he kind of looks like Jason Miller
