UFC 4 Press Conference Videos

The Fight Nerd has unearthed some pretty amazing videos from the UFC 4 Press Conference. That's right, UFC 4. December 15, 1994 in a hotel room somewhere in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

UFC 4 ended with Royce Gracie beating Dan Severn via triangle choke. This was the first triangle choke seen in modern MMA. The announcers had no idea what was happening.

Here's the Nerd talking about his find:

Present at this press conference was UFC 1 and 2 tournament champion Royce Gracie, Steve Jennum (winner of the UFC 3 tournament) rocking a flat-top, Keith Hackney (returning to competition after smashing his hand against Emmanuel Yarbrough), Anthony Macias, Joe Son, Ron Van Clief, Melton Bowen, and Dan Severn, who was en route to earning his nickname of "The Beast". Also in the audience was a young Kimo Leopoldo, Guy Mezger, Joe Charles, and Kevin Rosier of UFC 1 looking lean and mulleted, as well as Rorion Gracie, commissioner of the IFC (the original group that created the rules of MMA).

The event was dubbed "Revenge of the Warriors" and part one of this video features a rare look at one of their original hype videos, which is oddly set to the "Nutcracker Suite", perhaps an omen to what would happen when Hackney and Son met in the cage. The coolest thing about this conference, besides seeing all of these old school fighters, is in part three, when Art Davie draws names randomly to set up the tournament brackets. Part three also features a TON of interviews with the fighters, including the first ever Capoeira fighter to compete in the UFC.

Three more videos after the jump.
