The UFC tweets that there were some other interesting candidates wanting to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 133 in Philly.

It’s not like Rashad is a big LHW, he could probably make MW pretty easily too.
I doubt they would’ve asked Evans to cut an additional 20 pounds on this short notice… It maybe could’ve been a Franklinweight fight, but not a Middleweight fight.
I think he was speaking in generalities...
Evan could make MW, but not for this fight. Sonnen vs Evans could be interesting.

Fair enough. Not sure it would’ve been fair to put Leben or Sonnen in with Evans as a LHW fight though… Evans must be cutting a few pounds in order to make 205 pounds, while both Leben and Sonnen (especially Leben) would pretty much strick to their walking around weight and still make that 205 pounds limit. At least at 195, they’d all be at similar weights and muscle mass…
sonnen's fought as a LHW before...he definitely doesn't weight 185

Leben takes too long to get into the pocket. Evans would be in and out too quickly for him.

I suspect that plan C(?) would have been to bump Rich up to the main event and thrown Vladdy into a third match with Lil Nog.

It’s a non-sensical fight that doesn’t make sense for either fighter and burns a top contender in one of two divisions.
Say what you want about Sonnen
But he’s willing to fight just about anyone. He’s call out just about everyone and it seems like him trying to gain more publicity but I think this shows he’ll seriously fight whoever is put in front of him.

Rashad may not knock out Leben
but Leben’s going to have a helluva time getting any clean strikes in with the way he plods and Rashad darts in and out.

Leben/Sonnen would both give Rashard a run for his money
I’m not complaining about Tito/Evans 2, but I find Leben/Evans or Sonnen/Evans the more intriguing bouts
