Every single post mentioning Rashad Evans yields a comment with that close-up pic of his battered face after being KO'd by Machida, without exception. EVERY POST. Why? I love Bloody Elbow because the comment section is always full of insightful, intellegent, sometimes humorous discussion, must we really continue to stoop to such lows? I love a good joke just as much as anyone else, but lets be real here folks, it's been played out for a while now.
Rashad was Ko'd. I remember. You remember. He remembers. But guess what? So has nearly everyone else. It's his only loss EVER and there is no shame in losing to Machida. Is that all you got?
What's really ironic is that it's the same group of blood-thirsty fans who love and praise the Chris Leben's and Wanderlei's of the world for their break-neck , go-for-broke style that have the issue with Evans, and who take delight in rehashing that infamous picture. Over and Over and over again. The irony lies in the fact that Rashad was Ko'd for going toe-to-toe with Machida. He was in the pocket, slugging it out like Leben and Silva do every time. He was Ko'd because he chose to fight
stupid reckless, and he suffered the consequences. Just like Silva did a few weeks back. Just like Leben has and will again no doubt, in the future.
Is Rashad really that unlikeable? That we ignore the many faults of other "beloved" fighters and pick on Rashad because he was Ko'd once?
Remember when Chuck tapped to strikes?
How about GSP?
And who can forget Shoguns hand hitting the mat repeatedly in submission earlier this year?
Aren't these more humiliating than being KO'd clean? I think so, but I wouldn't go as far as to continuously bring them up over and over again because it's cruel and idiotic.
Fighters win, lose, tap, get ko'd, whatever. It's a very big part of the sport and it happens to the best of them. Lets move on shall we? As a Bloody Elbow reader, you're better than that.
