The injury bug has bitten Todd Duffee. The heavyweight has been forced out of his fight on this weekend in Japan, and apparently they won't find a replacement for his opponent. Brett Okamoto of ESPN has the news:
An undisclosed injury has forced Todd Duffee out of a scheduled heavyweight bout against Nick Gaston at DREAM 17 in Tokyo this weekend.
A representative from the promotion confirmed Duffee's withdrawal to ESPN.com and added Gaston has been removed from the card.
Duffee's last appearance in Japan didn't go very long, as he was knocked by Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem in 19 seconds on the New Years Eve Dynamite! card. Duffee made a big impression in his UFC debut in late 2009, stopping Tim Hague in a UFC-record seven seconds. He was then famously knocked out by Mike Russow in one of the biggest comeback wins of 2010, and was subsequently released from the UFC for what Dana White terms "attitude problems".
