Stephan Bonnar shows off his new line of MMA t-shirts, "Trash Talking Kids", although the Josh Koscheck edition he's modeling won't be for sale:
"Not in my division, but overall probably Koscheck," Bonnar said when asked who rubbed him the wrong way. "Mainly because I started a new t-shirt line called Trash Talking Kids, kinda a parody of the old Garbage Pail Kids from the 80's except with UFC fighters. He actually inspired the idea, he talks so much s**t in the Daley fight and after the fight. The whole time I see Koscheck talking s**t to him on the ground, I thought it was hilarious and I was carrying on about it.
"Since then we made a whole bunch more. He got wind of it and he didn't like it and I tried to explain it to him firsthand. 'Like, look we're doing them for all the fighters. It's kinda a joke, just cartoon versions of the fighters.' His version is called Josh Koshbygosh and he kinda looks like a Cabbage Patch doll, because he really does. Anyway, so he didn't like it. Turns out we won't be able to sell his but we will be able to sell the other ones. I didn't think his was gonna sell too much anyway. We're getting hit up his lawyers at the moment, it's been a pain in the ass. So if anyone rubs me the wrong way, it'll be Koscheck for sicking his lawyers on me.
I would drop a lot of weight to fight him."

I'd wear that or this

They made a video game about Yakuzas. It’s called Yakuza. And it’s about Yakuza

DIA2ill.com coming soon....
I would too
I thought it was supose to be Sonnen until I saw the “American Wacko” at the bottom.
If you can't wow them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshit.
The streetfighter pose is a dead giveaway for Bonnar!
These shirts are freaking awesome

They really are
I just hate the “ringer tee”…i always felt they were very…GAP.
I guess I can make an exception for Brock blasting a shotgun while carrying a bull though.

I'd wear the Koscheck shirt
I think its funny and knowing that Koscheck actually hates it would make it that much better.
Maybe someone could put an anonymous file in drop box for people to make their own? Hint hint.

I gotta get some of these shirts.
Koscheck is a baby he can dish it out but he can’t take a little joke on T-shirt that really isn’t even bad.

It’s not about taking a joke it’s about another fighter using his brand to make money. I don’t know where it stands legally with satire in regards to commercial clothing, but legal or not I do see why Kos wouldn’t love the idea of somebody else making money off of him.

love Bonnar. Produced so many great moments over the years from the griffin fight, to the pose after the k-sos fight , to his awesome rection while commentating the “showtime” kick.
Love that he’s smacktalkin koscheck here. So funny. Never gonna happen tho. No way Bonnar could get to 170, don’t think he could make 185 either, and Kos would never go up to 185 to fight a middling, yet sentimental favorite LHW. Would be fun tho if somehow it happened. Kos has the better skillset and athleticism, but the size advantage for steph would be ridiculous.
They should just see if they can get paid to have a sweet Twitter war now that the UFC is incentivizing fighters to do social media.

Not that I expect anything to come of this
but didn’t Kos state that he’d go up to 205 when he and Tito were talking shit to each other?

the same thing happend with Frank Trigg and Matt Hughes. If I rememeber correcyt Hughes was selling T shirts and other items on his website. Hughes was using the classic pic of him on Triggs back locking in the RNC while Triggs eyes started rolling back. The end result was Hughes eather had to cut Trigg in on the profits or stop using that pic. Hughes decided not to use the pic.
Did he offer Koscheck a cut?
That seems to be left out of the article. Based on what he is saying it sure sounds like he was using Koscheck’s likeness without compensation.
As people, I love Bonnar and can’t stand Koscheck. But I have no beef with Koscheck on this. If Bonnar wants to make a profit by using someone else’s likeness that person should have a stake in it.

if its in parody of a public figure it is legal. think wierd al.
Otherwise political cartoons could be outlawed.

There's a previous version of the shirt
Except with Koshbygosh as a literal crybaby.
Bonnar has nothing to be pissed off about.
He is selling Koscheck’s brand without giving him a cut. The fact that GSP let him do it doesn’t mean that Kos is in the wrong. The shirts are awesome though.

THIS
Always wondered how these shirts got around likeness rights. Bonnar is just gonna claim the right to market images of all the UFC fighters, albeit in cartoon form? Last I checked, UFC had to get permission from each fighter to include their likeness in the video game, so I don’t see how this is different (except under the thinnest veneer of parody and editorial comment).

Parody
Well, what are they satirizing? Where is the public policy interest that would make it free speech?

Agreed, they look cool but I totally understand where Kos is coming from on this one.

Garbage Pale Kids style UFC shirts? WIN!
These are awesome looking! Hope he doesn’t get sued by Garbage Pale peeps either

honestly they might have the best case.
But I don’t think they have the cash or will to sue. Since after all they are a cabbage patch kid parody.

Marvel might not like that Hamill shirt.
They jealously guard their IP. I hope he ran it past them first.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
Aren't there some lawyer-types that post on here and could shed some light on the
issue of using other fighters’ likenesses? I don’t know where the line is drawn for using parodies of the fighters/ cartoon versions and I’m really itching to unleash some rampant and uninformed speculation here…
The problem is that there isn’t a clear line – I haven’t had any practice with cases like this in years but here is a pretty solid amount of information from an analogous situation:
