Strikeforce Challengers 16: Live Results and Play-By-Play

As with every major show, Bloody Elbow will be here to bring you live results, play by play and commentary for Strikeforce Challengers 16. The live blog will start with the beginning of the Showtime broadcast (11 p.m. ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.

The event is headlined by a lightweight clash between James Terry and Caros Fodor. Fodor is on a three fight win streak in Strikeforce and is coming off a TKO victory over David Douglas in April. In James Terry he faces a man also on a three fight win streak in Strikeforce who trains with Cung Le. Also on the card, Randy Couture's son, Ryan Couture, faces undefeated Matt Ricehouse. Lorenz Larkin returns to action after an impressive Strikeforce debut to face Gian Villante. UFC veteran Jason High looks to extend his four fight win streak when he faces Quinn Mulhern and his seven fight win streak. Also, the first women's MMA bout in Zuffa history takes place as Julia Budd faces off with Germaine de Randamie.

Julia Budd vs. Germaine de Randamie - Round 1 - Budd pushes in and pushes de Randamie into the cage. Budd continuing to push in and now gets the takedown. de Randamie looking for an arm in guillotine from half guard which isn't really any threat. Budd gets her head free and is still in the half guard. Budd slips into full mount. Budd gets free of the grasp of de Randamie and postures up to throw punches but de Randamie throws punches back. Budd goes for the armbar and gives up mount and now they're back to standing. Budd pushing her back into the fence after taking a hard punch. Budd puts her on her back and finishes the round in the guard of de Randamie. 10-9 Budd.

Round 2 - Right hand blocked by Budd. Budd closes distance off a punch and pushes de Randamie into the cage again. de Randamie briefly turns her and looks for a knee but Budd turns it again and almost gets the takedown twice but de Randamie grabs the cage both times to stay standing. After about a minute Budd finishes the takedown. de Randamie reverses and gets to standing and pushes Budd into the fence. Knees landing for de Randamie. Thai clinch leads to a few more knees but Budd reverses her into the cage and then manages to get a takedown with a little over a minute left in the round. Budd keeps trying to work to improve position and isn't doing much damage, but she is controlling the fight. 10-9 Budd.

Round 3 - Budd tries for a takedown but gets thrown to the ground, de Randamie landing some punches now and spending time on top. de Randamie landing some nice punches now but does eat an upkick. Budd gets up after taking some punches and then scores a takedown. Budd just looking to hold her down to the final bell. And that's what she does. 10-9 de Randamie gives Budd the 29-28 victory.

Jason High vs. Quinn Mulhern - Round 1 - Clinch up early and a break before High lands the leg kick. Both guys throw right hands and both guys miss. Little combination from Mulhern and a takedown by High. High lands a right hand and stands right back up. Another takedown by High and a few punches before he stands up again. Mulhern almost gets a leg after High lands a few body kicks but High escapes. Another few punches and takedown by High. Again Mulhern goes for the leg after eating a few punches. Nice left hand by High. Another takedown by High and some hammerfists. Another takedown off a punch by High and he lands a few punches. 10-9 round for High.

Round 2 - High with a quick takedown. Some nice punches from the top now. They go to standing, High slips Mulhern's punches and then lands a big double leg into side control. Mulhern gets guard back so High stands over him and lands a few punches and forces him to stand. Kick by Mulhern, High takes him down off of it. High continuing to work from the top. High just plain outworking him here and now cracks him with a big left hand. Mulhern is cut over the right eye. Takedown by High again. High just dominating the fight. 10-9 High.

Round 3 - Of course, it's High with a takedown early. High landing a few solid punches and then landing another takedown. They're stood back up and High drives him right into the ground. High looks for the d'arce choke but can't finish it off. Back to standing and a big slam for High puts it right back down. 10-9 High for the sweep. Very dominant, very impressive performance against a legit talented prospect.

Lorenz Larkin vs. Gian Villante - Round 1 - Leg kick by Villante. Leg kick by Larkin. Villante shoots in and gets the takedown. Villante gets sucked into half guard after having side control. Villante controlling position as Larkin keeps trying to find an escape. Finally, Villante starts to throw some punches and elbows. Now Larkin regains full guard. Larkin with rubber guard as Villante throws to the body. 10-9 Villante.

Round 2 - Leg kick by Larkin. Head kick by Larkin is blocked. Larkin with a hard body kick. Larkin really opening up more this round but hasn't landed with anything yet. Villante catches a kick and Larkin manages to stay standing and he lands a knee as Villante pushes him into the cage. Hammer fists and knees to the thigh by Larkin. Knees to the body by Larkin now. Larkin keeps kneeing to the body and lands an uppercut as they're back to distance. Larkin opens up with some huge punches and a jumping knee. Villante is fading. Huge leg kick by Larkin and a nice left hand. Larkin with a few nice punches and a head kick. Larkin with a straight right. Hard body kick by Larkin. Low blow by Larkin now. Switch kick by Larkin and Villante touches gloves. 10-9 Larkin.

Round 3 - Larkin looking quick here with a nice flurry. Eye poke but the ref says it was a clean shot. Kick by Villante is missed. Gian shoots but Larkin defends. Leg kick by Larkin. Overhand right by Larkin. Larkin with a three punch combo and Villante answers with a leg kick. Larkin just popping the jab now. Hard right hand by Larkin. Villante shoots in and can't get the takedown. Larkin just picking him apart on the feet and closes out the fight with a takedown of his own. 10-9 Larkin.

Official Scorecard: 29-28 Lorenz Larkin across the board. Larkin wins by unanimous decision.

Ryan Couture vs. Matt Ricehouse - Round 1 - Ricehouse flicking the jab. Knee by Couture almost lands. Right hand lands for Ricehouse, and another. Both guys land in the clinch but this is pretty sloppy. Both guys landing glancing punches and kicks as the round wears on. Couture pushes him into the cage, Ricehouse turns him and lands a knee. Couture turns him and lands a knee of his own. Right hand by Couture. Ricehouse put Couture on his back off a kick and nothing really happens before Couture gets up to his feet. 10-9 Ricehouse.

Round 2 - A lot of movement going on and Ricehouse is trying to land the counter right hands and does land a few off of Couture's body kicks. A lot of movement going on and Ricehouse closes out the round stronger in my eyes. 10-9 Ricehouse.

Round 3 - Couture being more aggressive early. He briefly has Ricehouse's back standing. Knee lands for Couture now. Both guys land right hands. They hit the ground with Ricehouse on top in Couture's guard. Right hand lands for Ricehouse. They're back to standing and Ricehouse is just outworking him.10-9 Ricehouse again.

Official Scorecards: 29-28 all for Matt Ricehouse. Matt Ricehouse wins by unanimous decision.

Caros Fodor vs. James Terry - Round 1 - Both men throwing punches as Fodor pushes Terry to the cage. Terry reverses and puts Fodor into the cage. Now they separate and Fodor lands and uppercut while Terry lands a right hand. Fodor pushes him into the cage again and Terry reverses him again. Fodor really pushing the pace but Terry is doing a nice job of reversing and not being stuck against the fence. Right hand lands hard for Fodor. Both men landing knees and punches here. Fodor is doing a very good job in the stand-up and now he pushes Terry into the cage again and Terry actually manages to get the takedown. 10-9 Fodor

Round 2 - Fodor walking him down and landing solid punches while Terry is stuck in reverse still. Terry with a takedown into half guard now. Terry tries to lock up an arm triangle but Fodor gets his arm free. Fodor uses an attempted pass by Terry to get back to his feet. Left hand by Fodor lands. Fodor is just pressuring the hell out of Terry and he has no answer. Terry keeps trying for takedowns against the cage now but Fodor doing a nice job of defending. 10-9 Fodor.

Round 3 - Fodor comes out with hard punches and Terry gets dropped briefly. Terry lands a right hand. Fodor keeps pressuring him. Leg kick by Terry and a right hand by Fodor. Terry is trying to time a big shot but Fodor is doing a nice job of cutting off his efforts with right hands or just by pressuring him and forcing him backward. Fodor drops down for a guillotine as Terry pushes for a takedown but Terry gets out and starts looking to open up as the round comes to a close. 10-9 Fodor

Official Scorecards: 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 all for Caros Fodor. I was kind of worried Terry would get a card just off getting a couple takedowns, but the judges got it right.
