UFC on Versus 4 Fight Card: Marquardt vs. Story Betting Odds
The betting lines for UFC on Versus 4 are out, and there looks to be some juicy stuff available depending on your perspective. The main card odds have been out for a little while now, but the undercard odds were just released today. A lot of close fights odds-wise makes this card particularly appealing if you're interested in wagering on it. In the main event, Nate Marquardt opened as a solid -180 favorite but the line has shifted in a big way, with Nate being offered at even odds now and Rick Story now being the favorite in the -130 range. In the co-main event, Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry opened up at close to even odds, but Kongo is now a healthy favorite due to a big shift in lines.

There is some serious money to be made on John Howard
Sig betting against The-gentle-way is like playing Russian Roulette with a semi-automatic weapon. The only thing he knows more about than fighting is pleasing women, and my girlfriend is thankful for that.
that makes more sense

I think it makes sense. They both have top-notch standup but Kongo’s mediocre grappling totally outclasses Barry’s grappling.
Agreed. I read an sherdog article about Barry though that he has spent his camp mostly with the Deathclutch guys, working hard on his wrestling and jiu-jitsu under the watching eye of Marty Morgan. It will be interesting to see how much he can have improved, and if it will be enough.

I saw that too.
Gave me some hope that he has a future in the big show.

Yes, me too. I have been very doubtful after his last few fights, but he’s such a likable guy that I would much rather see him succeed. I don’t think he’ll ever be a top 10 guy, but maybe he can stick around at least.

agreed
the ship has sailed on him being a contender, and probably even a gatekeeper (although if he gives Kongo a Nik Fekete Nap I’ll change my mind about that.)
With those damn tree trunks he calls legs though? A little takedown D training might completely change his UFC fortuntes.

Oh yes, I would be very happy with a Barry knock-out! I will definitely be rooting for him. But the pessimist in me don’t really see it happening. Even if they do stay on the feet striking, Kongo does have very good striking himself + height and reach advantage. That’s another thing about Barry, he’s just so damn short for being a HW striker.. I mean it worked for Igor Vovchancyn back in the day, but times have changed.
About those legs, I just checked his record and it’s 6-2, with three of his wins coming from TKO by leg kicks! And it wasn’t far away with Beltran either. So yes, definitely massive power there.

Matt Brown vs. John Howard main card?
I would rather watch any of the prelims fights over this.
Opulence, I has it.

How? Howard can’t sub Brown, and Brown can’t do anything to beat Howard. This has decision written all over it, IMO.
Lentz, 5-0-1 in the UFC, matched up against some 2-1 greenhorn? Lentz is going to fence this guy so bad.
dude
that greenhorn is a pretty highly touted prospect who’s one loss is to jim miller.
not saying you aren’t right man, but it’s a very intriguing bout that will do a lot for the career for either of them.
also, in defence of lentz, i hear his last fight was pretty exciting.
hehe yeah I was being silly
it’s interesting to think about how Oliveira will deal with Lentz’s flavour of fighting. if he hasn’t adequately prepared for the wrestling and cage clinch game of Lentz… he may find himself on the bad end of a decision
and if Lentz is smart (he seems to be) that is exactly what he’ll do. Oliveira will most likely be the one holding the traditional striking and grappling advantage.
I mean, Lentz could drag a case on for years if he has to, so I can see why he’s a partner.
Not sure if the same could be said for Marquardt and Mitrione… I would most definitely not want Mitrione representing me!
“Yeah, Brother! The dude’s not guilty. Totally not guilty. I mean…yeah bro like..these charges are erroneous as shit!”
And so on…
Picks:
Oliveira
Lamas
Johnson
Vasquez
Roberts
Lauzon
Gamburyan
Howard
Morecraft
Barry
Marquardt

I'd put money on Morecraft too

My picks
Nate the Great
Cupcheck Congo
Morecraft
John Howard
My gut says Griffin but Im going to pick Manny for the upset
SHMEAGLE.. err i mean Joe
Rich Attonito
Joe daddy
Ricardo Lamas (just going with the odds here, dunno about either fighter)
and Oliveira, and I REALLY hope he jumps back from his jim miller loss.
I want Barry to win
But my Brain is telling me Kongo is the sure pick.
Hopefully all of his Morgan wrasstlin’ will show through.

I would rather see each and every fight on the undercard than fucking Mitrione/Morecraft
And I would like to see half of them before Barry/Kongo, which will either devolve into gassing or groin shots.

Has he finally been outed?
Kongo’s picture looks very similar to TBA’s. Notice that both fighters are gatekeepers who have hit-and-miss records. I think the mystery’s solved. Now, onto Batman’s secret identity…
Hmm.. maybe. He does have that same sized neck as head.

No, I think Thiago is more likely, if you compare these pictures Serra’s chin goes all the way down to the lower frame, which I don’t see with TBA.

idk
but it is AWESOME.
1. Anderson Silva is waiting for you to punch him.
2. That guy is Anderson Silva.
3. Don't fucking punch that guy.

i don’t think the ears and right side (our left) of his head match up. can somebody shadow-out Alves’ headshot? that would help.
the more and more i think about it, I’m starting to get convinced that it’s Dana White

How in the world is Rich Attonio a favorite over Daniel Roberts?

Because Roberts has shit awful stand up
and probably can’t get the fight to the ground. That is my guess anyways

I don’t know. Attonio isn’t exactly an amazing striker with lights out KO power, and I think that if, and when, the fight hits the ground, it’ll take Roberts about ten seconds to tap him.

Surprised to see people picking Manny
I think Griffin is going to dominate
