Strikeforce continues to add really good fights to Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson in Hoffman Estates, IL on July 30th. This one is in the middleweight division, and features the last two men to challenge Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza for the Strikeforce middleweight title - Tim Kennedy and "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler. Strikeforce tweeted about the fight "less than a minute ago":

Kennedy has been asking for this fight for a while now and all but confirmed it last month in an interview. He is coming off a quick submission win over Melvin Manhoef in March. Lawler hasn't fought since he was submitted by the champion Souza at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg in January. The matchup adds to an already stellar card on July 30th:
Dan Henderson vs. Fedor Emelianenko
Marloes Coenen vs. Miesha Tate (for Women's 135 lb. title)
Paul Daley vs. Evangelista Santos
Roger Gracie vs. Muhammed Lawal
Tim Kennedy vs. Robbie Lawler

Wow am I stoked for this.
And I’m equally surprised that I’m finding myself more excited for a SF card than I am for any UFC card this summer, except maybe, MAYBE, Rio. This card is stacked to high heavens.

Yeah, I agree, they’re fantastic fighters, but it just fails to interest me. I can’t even explain it. But given the choice between watching Saffiedine vs. Smith and Coenen vs. Tate, I’ll take the men every time.

Just never really liked him. His fights are great though, warrior in and out , fought the best of the best, I can’t hate on the guy. Just don’t like him all that much haha. Same with Liddell never liked him at all, but he’s a great fighter. Was the only one cheering in the bar when franklin knocked him out.

Timbo is strong as hell and a beastly grappler. Barring a quick KO while he’s measuring distance I don’t see Kennedy losing this one.

I live in Rockford, il bout a hour away from the Hoffman Estates.
I’ve only been to one event and I didn’t really like it I would much rather watch at home on the flat screen with a better view but I am seriously contemplating going because this card is fucking sick.

Fedor vs. Rogers was my first ever MMA event live and the Sears Centre was crazy electric. That place was nuts for Fedor and it’s a nice venue for a fight. I can only imagine how crazy this place will be for Fedor vs. Hendo and an amazing undercard.
Please, please do yourself a favor and attend this event. You will absolutely not regret it.

I see. I had floor seats for Fedor vs Rogers and it was difficult to see ground action, so this time I bought tickets that are slightly raised. I agree with krcampbell, the Sears Centre was going bananas. Even when everyone was standing outside the arena waiting for it to be opened, there was just a crazy buzz.

Yeah, I had raised lower level seats for that event and it was a really nice view. This time, I have upper level, front row, dead center and on the aisle. I think those should be suitable seats with a really nice view.

Kennedy vs Lawler is a very good fight, and stylistically, it is a striker vs grappler. I would pick Kennedy to win this one by initiating the clinch and forcing the takedown. Despite losing to Jacare by RNC, Lawler is still a pretty tough opponent and can catch Kennedy at any time the fight is standing.
