Dream officials announced late last night that Dream welterweight champion Marius Zaromskis will be taking on Japanese legend Hayato "Mach" Sakurai at Dream: Japan GP Final on July 16th at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo. Strangely though, the title will not be on the line for the belt. This fight is a rematch of the 2009 Dream Welterweight Grand Prix semifinal, where Zaromskis won by head kick knockout.
Zaromskis burst onto the big stage in Dream after a long run in Cage Rage in England, when he knocked out Sakurai and Jason High in back-to-back fights to win the Dream WWGP and the belt. Since then though, things have been up and down for him, going 1-3-1 in his last 5 with the last loss coming to prospect Jordan Mein just two weeks ago.Sakurai is on the biggest losing streak of his career, dropping four in a row with the most recent coming by split decision to Jason High at Dynamite on New Years Eve.
Nightmare of Battle reports that Sakurai is looking for a NYE matchup with another legend, Kazushi Sakuraba, if he can pull out the win on July 16th.
