We’ll probably see some of it in motion at e3.
Not sure who the developer is for this. If it’s a different developer it might be worth a look, if it’s still Yuke’s… well, buyer beware.

Looked at EA MMA and taken some of the better ideas for the new UFC game. Skipping 2011 for a UFC title was a shrewd move.

do you, or anyone, know if the likeness from EA MMA are exclusive?
cause if it’s not, the next version would be awesome since they can put all the Strikeforce guys in it.
by Anton Tabuena on Jun 2, 2011 6:19 AM EDT up reply actions
I saw an article right before 129 where Randy said he was working on a deal to appear in the newest UFC game. I think very few, if any, fighters will be on exclusive deals with EA. That said, if the game is out in just over six months my guess is that there won’t be any Strikeforce fighters, not even Diaz. It’s probably being saved as a selling point for the fourth game.
That's the benefit of downloadable content
DLC’s should mean new characters can be added for the game’s life cycle.
I dunno KJ
Both previous games have had horrible dlc. TUF only

Nice! Pumped that they’re changing the sub system. I went from a beast on Undisputed 1 to a scub on 2 when it came to subs.
If you can't wow them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshit.

If you want to play online, then don’t bother. The way to win online is to box like a douche. I know, I experienced it 1st hand. I was 14th in the world on 360, easily would have been #1 in 2 or 3 more days. Nobody at the top can hang in there boxing realistically.
However, if you can put online aside (aside from matches with your friends) then yes, it is a great game. The Story Mode is actually really compelling. Myself and many others stayed up all night the 1st night we got it to finish it. Didn’t plan it that way, just couldn’t put it down.
I dont have online access for my 360. So ya ill definately try and check it out by renting or save up some scratch to just buy it.
What do you mean box like a douche?
PRIDE NEVER DIE!!!
I don't know what h8ff is talking about
I love the online mode, I don’t know what he means by a “douche” either, I box for points on there n if a knockout comes it comes, going for th knock out will get you knocked out

yes very high
People can’t see the difference because the 2010, even if better, has disapointed a lot. They just remember the first time they played 2009 and how they enjoy it. So 2009 > 2010.

Yes, I am perpetually high
Also I played both 2009 and 2010 a lot. The control scheme and level of innovation in 2009 was deeper than any fighting game I’ve ever played. I think people think of it more as a sports game than a fighting game, so the argument that it’s the best/deepest fighting game comes out of left field for some.
2010 felt shallow in comparison- you could spam elbows in clinch range and the ground game was more frustrating than ever (in terms of reversals.) I’ve played both versions a LOT, and 2010 played more like a cheap, gimmicky knock-off instead of the chess matches I loved in 2009.
Still on the Charles Oliveira bandwagon!
I feel opposite myself.
I too have played both games a lot and 2010 we a lot better in my opinion. You can spam elbows from cling range in both titles 10 had the sway system to neutralize that. Which helped a lot. Also I really can’t say enough how having personalized move sets helped the gameplay.

I used to be really into fighting games and I’ve played basically all of them; I even owned the first UFC game for Dreamcast. In my opinion it can’t be disputed that the Undisputed titles are some of the most shallow fighters on the market: slow moving, no combos, no parries, no character-specific commands, timing isn’t precise, and button tapping is used instead of skillful exchanges. I often think it should be considered a sports game. The Dead or Alive and Smash Brothers games are the only ones with a comparable lack of depth. The Undisputed games are exceptional when it comes to presentation though.

Career Mode?
It’s a guaranteed buy for me…simply because my girlfriend isn’t a huge video game fan, but loves MMA.
That being said, I really wanted to like the career mode in 2010…and while I know there are others that figured it all out…it just didn’t make much sense. The stats were wonky, and why some of my abilities degraded to zero after a fight…and no matter how many points I put in them it still happened…I never figured out.
As fun as it is to pick a current fighter and work up to the title…making your own guy and coming up through the unknowns was fun. Kinda discouraged they haven’t mentioned ANYTHING about that in what I’ve read so far.
I've been waiting forever!
Let the fighters fight, let the referees ref, but dear God, don't let the judges judge.
Hm...the submission system.
On the ground, there’s an entirely new submission system that replaces the analog stick twirling that led to so many blisters in previous games. Now it’s a sort of cat-and-mouse minigame where an octagon image pops up onscreen with red and blue lines on the perimeter of it. Basically, the player being submitted has to outrun the one doing the submitting, with each player represented by their red or blue line that they can move around the perimeter of the octagon with the analog stick. It sounds a little bizarre, but there is a logic to it: the size of your line is affected by various factors, such as how fatigued you are, whether you’ve rushed into a submission prematurely, and the general effectiveness of a certain hold. So if you’ve ground-and-pounded for a solid 20 seconds and your attacker immediately goes into a submission, his line will be substantially bigger than if he’d rushed into a hold, making it easier for him to chase you down in the minigame and thus cause a tapout.
I hated the old submission system and I’m glad they’ve changed it….but this sounds exactly like EA MMA’s choke system.

I'm really hoping it's not like EA MMA
That was a stupid system, it was a little more realistic in the UFC games.
Let the fighters fight, let the referees ref, but dear God, don't let the judges judge.
I was imagining something like this, but instead of visual lines you had to rely on controller vibration feedback
Mcloviiiiin!!
EA MMA did both.
The controller vibrated whenever you found the right spot, which also made it visible on the screen.
I completely forgot there was even a second Undisputed game.

its pretty hard to go to a decision in mma games. Even in ea mma I have 24 decisions out of 1300+ ranked fights.
Plus whos going to pick Edgar or Fitch if they made it little to no chance of a knockout? :P

i was thinking about this last night
i downloaded the demo for 2010 again and realized just how much the UFC series favors KOs. you’d think that the EA game – built with a boxing game engine, mind you – would be the one with a lanky submission system and more KO opportunities.
weird.

Yes!
I’m very excited…. both UFC games have gained heavy rotation on my 360. Personally, I hope they incorporated the “blood smearing” of EA MMA. I also preferred the graphics of EA MMA as well. UFC’s have seen sort of “campy” and arcade-ish. Other than that, I freakin’ have loved both. I was a straight up beast on 09, and so so at 10. Very happy. Add that with Batman: Arkham City of games I’m stoked to play.
i'm loving this news so much my erection grew fangs...
they must have learned enough from EA MMA to change the submission system and add soccer kicks and headstomps. that PRIDE mode was a great way to bypass unified rules. they just need to pace the striking, sometimes it looks like Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots instead of, you know, an actual fight. if the career mode borrows from the EA series where you train with different masters in different disciplines to gain certain moves or techniques as well as sharpen your skills, this could possibly be the best MMA game ever.

Sorry Pride fans, but this game will still suck...
The gameplay for all these games have been awful. Adding Pride stuff is nice, but getting rid of THQ is the real solution. The Career modes are so repetitive, and the online is not that great. I am as big an MMA and ps3 fan as there is, but this game has never done it for me. Anyone back me up on this?
Agreed on Career mode especially in 10
Tho I really did enjoy online in 09.
10 had a lot of potential that just never panned out. I’ll definitely get the demo for this and make my decision from there.
