Video: Jiu Jitsu World Champ Robert Drysdale Wins His 3rd MMA Fight at AFC 6
Highly decorated Brazilian Jiujitsu practitioner, Robert Drysdale just won his third straight bout since making the jump to professional mixed martial arts. Fighting once again for the Armageddon Fighting Championships promotion, Drysdale kept his unbeaten record intact with another quick submission victory over UFC veteran, and fellow BJJ Blackbelt in Mike Nickels. Here's the footage from the co-headlining bout on AFC 6:
Mike Nickels is also a talented grappler himself, having won a few jiujitsu tournaments including a gold medal in the Pan-American BJJ championships, but Drysdale just showed how Black Belts aren't created equally. With this third quick submission finish in a row, his MMA career now has a total time of just 4 minutes and 22 seconds.
A few more wins and it is likely that we see him on a much bigger stage, and it would really be interesting to see how his MMA game progresses as he gets more experience and slowly creeps up the stacked light heavyweight ladder.
AFC 6: Quick Results after the jump, which includes John Salter's TKO victory over fellow UFC veteran, Kalib Starnes, on the second round of the night's headlining bout.

I always like to see
the name Kalib Starnes, especially with and (L) next to it. RIP WKR.

MIke Nickels is no joke.
Pretty good win for Drysdale. I hope he continues his winning streak and makes it to at least strikeforce one day. I wonder how is standup is?
he will het killed if he jumps up to the big show

he is not ready for UFC 205ers right now
but he has the right skills and is at the right camp to get ready if he is serious. Don’t know if he’d be Top 10, but he could certainly have interesting matches in the UFC in a year or two.

Haven’t really seen any other aspect of Drysdale’s MMA game. We know he’s a world class BJJ guy but what happens when he can’t get it to the ground? I guess we’ll see if he decides to go to the big show. If he stays on these smaller shows he could easily rack up an undefeated record of 50-0 against blue belts. Seems like he’d be doing more for himself if he were just doing amateur boxing matches.
Yeah, I read it. I'm guilty of hyperbole.
Drysdale still just had a BJJ match with a much less skilled guy on the ground which really doesn’t tell us much about him as an MMA fighter.

now that's a tad bit more reasonable.
He did beat a jiujitsu champ though who’s a lot more experienced in MMA, so it’s a good step up that could’ve tested how good his MMA game was. On paper, they could’ve cancelled each others MMA grappling, and it could’ve been a stand up affair, but he was still able to show how his superior BJJ can still win him fights against dudes who are more well rounded and experienced that him…
this wasn’t just a gimme fight against a blue belt, it was a decent step up in competition since he’s just a neophyte in MMA.
