Bloody Elbow is the premier MMA community, and it is because every single user brings something to the table whether in the form of humerous banter or expert knowledge in a one of the martial arts. Being a huge fight fan, i believe this is my contribution to the BE community. LATE NIGHT FIGHTS as a series was created in order to highlight great classics and those fights that are often cited but rarely seen as well as the past, present and future legends of MMA in their early non UFC or non MMA bouts. - KJJ
Well alot has been going on recently, but i wouldnt know about it. Im stuck in my smelly dorm reading sloppy Calculus notes. Apparently some bin Laden dude got snuffed. Rashard Mendenhall tweeted about it and a contrvoversy brewed. As much as people want to lambaste him, its refreshing to see an educated opinion instead of the 'bitches n hoes' weve been accustomed to from pro athletes. Personally i think we are all missing the big picture. Barack's secret weapon and the real reason the terrorist shake in their boots:
I thought it was amusing, all credit to Filmdrunk.com. Lets get to the fights. Getting your arm broken sucks, continuing to fight with a broken arm is just an awful idea. Leave it to Forrest to break an arm checking a kick and finish the fight a minute later.
Fight starts at the 4:00 mark
Forrest Griffin 8-2
NL: Jeremy Horn, Dan Severn
Edson Paredao Silva 1-1
Both fighters come out swinging. Paredao throws a kick and Griffin catches it for the takedown. Ground n Pound Griffin. Forrest lets him up. Paredao throws a kick that is checked. Paredao pushing foward with combinations. Griffin covers up well and circles out, good striking defense by Forrest. Right kick by Griffin. Big punch by Forrest and Paredao drops. Griffin swarms and gets the KO victory.
Aftermath: At first its hard to believe he breaks his left arm (it wasnt Corey Hillesque in its obviousness) but you can tell by Forrest having an ice pack on his left arm after the fight. Edson Paredao Silva would later become a early career victim of Junior Dos Santos. He currently sits at a 7-8 record with a win over something called "Poe Poe". Forrest as you well know would go on to defeat Stephan Bonnar in one of the greatest fights in MMA history. He would also become the second person to ever tap out Shogun Rua, and defeat Rampage Jackson to win the UFC LHW title. His next scheduled fight is against Shogun Rua at UFC 134. Griffin is on a 2 fight winning streak.
Personally i would love to do a detailed play by play on this next fight. But its not neccesary.
Forrest Griffin 7-1
NW: Ebenezer Braga, Travis Fulton, Jeff Monson
NL: Dan Severn
Chael Sonnen 6-1-1
NW: Jason "Mayhem" Miller
NL: Trevor Prangley
ND: Akihiro Gono
Chael Sonnen takes down Forrest Griffin. Ground n' Pound by Chael. Forrest locks in a Triangle choke. Chael Taps.
Aftermath: Well its nice to know some things just dont change. Uncle Chael has gone 19-9 since this fight.
