Bloody Wraps - May 4: The One Where Bernard Hopkins Yells at You

Remember last week? I do. It was a week where we actually had an MMA event to talk about and get ready for. Now we're all stuck talking about Georges St. Pierre's bloody eye (a body part away from being a traffic boon for us) and playing around in the Marvel universe about Jake Shields' "victory" having been denied. If you're not into boxing and excited for Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley, what is there to look forward to this week? Bellator? Get real, son.

But before I get into the rundown of today's action, I've got to dip into the world of boxing for a delicious example of trash talk and intensity. If you have twelve minutes to spare, watch this heated face-off between Bernard Hopkins and Jean Pascal:

On to the news:

- Anton ran the always popular How's Taste My Tweet Tweet column today. My favorite part is when he reminds everyone to follow me on Twitter.

- Leland Roling talked about how the featherweight division could become a "premier" division with the "huge" summer ahead. The real problem is that there is only one true blockbuster fight set for the summer right now. And becoming a premier division requires people to see you.

There's a ring card girl for UFC: Rio. I don't care, but some of you degenerates probably do.

- Frasier Coffeen broke down the potential fight between Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz by looking at their respective stand-up games. It's fantastic stuff.

- The breakdowns kept coming as KJ Gould broke down how Ivan Menjivar did the same to Charlie Valencia as Matt Hughes does to women at bars (allegedly).

Gary Shaw gave his thoughts on Nick Diaz's boxing career as well as Kimbo Slice's withdrawal from the boxing world. Shaw was brutally honest about Diaz's desire for Jeff Lacy or Fernando Vargas (not relevant boxers!) while being brutally dishonest about Kimbo Slice (he's the biggest attraction in combat sports!)

Mike Fagan assured us that Georges St. Pierre did, in fact, defeat Jake Shields.

Tim Burke shared fighter reactions to Randy Couture's retirement.
