Maria 'Meg' Melilo Not Selected as UFC Rio Ring Girl

UPDATE: MMA Fighting gets the scoop:

MMA Web sites were buzzing earlier this week when word broke that Brazilian model Maria Melilo would serve as a guest Octagon Girl at UFC 134 in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. The news was first reported by Brazilian outlet, Terra.com.

However, according to a UFC official, there is "no truth to this report."

Bloody Elbow's Tom Mendes tells us Terra.com is reporting that Maria "Meg" Melilo will be one of the ring girls at UFC 134/ UFC Rio, she won the eleventh edition of the Brazilian version of the reality show Big Brother. She's the cover of June's edition of Playboy magazine and also practices Jiu-Jitsu and Boxing and has worked as a ring girl before, so experience will not be a problem.

UFC Rio will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami. Other bouts will include: Forrest Griffin vs Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Thiago Tavares vs Spencer Fisher, Luiz Cane vs Stanislav Nedkov, Paulo Thiago vs David Mitchell and Edson Barboza vs Ross Pearson

UFC 134: Rio will mark the return of the UFC to Brazil for the first time since October 1998 and the first UFC event in Brazil since the promotion's purchase by current owners Zuffa, LLC.
