Fight Video: Mark Miller Lands Amazing KO at United Glory Finals
Travis Browne may have earned the KO of the Night at UFC 130, but it wasn't the best KO of the weekend. That distinction goes to Mark "The Fight Shark" Miller, and his spectacular kickboxing KO of Nikolaj Falin at the United Glory World Series Finals in Moscow on Saturday (full results here). Check out the video for yourself.
Not even 10 seconds into the bout, Miller deflects Falin's shot and comes back with the huge right of his own. Falin crashes to the mat, and it's all over. Total time: just nine seconds (not 3 seconds, as has been widely reported). It's so fast you need to watch the replay to get a sense of how well executed Miller's movements are here.
What makes this even more remarkable is the fact that this is Mark Miller's first fight back since having open heart surgery. It's an amazing journey he's been on, and this is a one of a kind moment to cap it off.
Look for more on Mark Miller tomorrow as we will be going more in depth on his story.
UPDATE: No more video, as it has been deleted. In an interesting bit of promotion that I have not seen done before, Miller's KO, and all fights from the United Glory show, can now be purchased at youtube.com/FightGameTV for $0.99. Understandably, with the video for sale online, they are protecting free copies from being put up. I will be interested to see how this pay-per-match concept works.

Why has this not been reported more often?
It’s an awesome story – more interesting than most of the UFC 130 coverage, certainly.

Eyes closed
Isn’t it kind of lucky when you KO your opponent with your eyes closed? That shit wouldn’t work with a good counter-puncher, that’s for sure!
His movements are not that well executed
Look at how he has his eyes closed and brings his hand back and to his waist before punching. I worked, but is not a great display of proper technique.
what's so great about this KO?

so it’s more of an feel good moment, gotcha

Really, Browne's KO is much better (including Struve's flop)
But a return from heart surgery to a 9s KO is awesome.

Miller had a major derailment in his career.
he needed open heart surgery, then his parents died [within months of each other], then his brother died [a few months after], then he was in a car accident that required knee surgery, and on top of that his wife had asked him for a divorce.
all in less than 18months. so this is more than just a feel good moment, it’s more of a sense of redemption and starting a climb back to doing what he does best. i will certainly agree that it looks sloppy. that shouldn’t really be the takeaway here.

I feel sorry for the poor man, he deserves to knock hella more people out than just this.

technique = not very good
looks more like a brawlers punch that just happened to land.
other guy doesnt seem very experienced either as he seems to flinch just before the punch lands
Nikolaj is an archetypical fall guy,
there’s a reason they call him Falin.
Good for Miller though. I’ve been kind of hard on him since the only fight of his i’ve ever seen was a dreadful fight with Tommy Glanville. This was a pretty swet KO no matter how you cut it.

That "other guy" has nearly 40 fights and is considered one of the best from Germany.

Come on, people
Stop criticising the guy’s technique and enjoy the KO.
They watch the GIFs...
And see it from a bad angle. His eyes are shut as he just used his left hand to deflect the jab as he was unloading the hook. Trust me, people in the know are beyond impressed with this.

It's an amazing shot he lands, not to mention that he's a bit of a grey beard coming off of open heart surgery.

I don't know who Travis Browne is.
I probably never will really know who Travis Browne is. Mark has an amazing story and came back after years of torment to a nearly impossible task of facing a fighter in his prime who hasn’t had medical derailment.
Plus, context, in kickboxing one punch KO’s are incredibly rare, as is knocking out a guy like Falin. Gokhan Saki is one of the best in the world and it took him 3 rounds to do that.
