I just got a message that said
"Yeah, hell has frozen over"
I got a phone call from the Lord
Saying, "Hey, boy, get a sweater right now"
Modest Mouse- Tiny Cities Made of Ashes
I, as many of you probably have, received today's UFC newsletter in my e-mail. Headlining the top of the e-mail was this promo artwork. Never in a million years did I think I would see anything from Zuffa that says M-1 Global presents at the top of the poster, hell surely has frozen over.
Something else that's pretty amazing about this main event is that Fedor will receive $1.5mm and Hendo will get $800k. That's some coin for the Strikeforce brand.
A few other Strikeforce notes. I'm thrilled that A) Strikeforce now has meaningful preliminaries, B) We get to see them on HDNet and C) Bas and the Voice will be doing the commentary. There are some exciting preliminaries for the June 18th event. One of the clear positives of the Zuffa purchase.
Also, I love the idea of all future Challengers taking place at The Palm. That it has a specific home and will have the feeling of a real TV series. The next Challenger card has some bouts like Larkin vs Villante that could be on one of their Championship card. Also, with the event now having one home at the Palm it will help keep the costs of the event down and hopefully keep the series running. Few of the Challenger cards have disappointed and I'm happy to see them innovating the event.
Finally, if the rumored bouts at the Fedor v Hendo event do turn out to be King Mo vs Roger, Daley vs Woodley, and Feijao vs OSP that is a damn fine event. I personally have been excited about the King Mo/Roger match up. If Roger wins it should put him in, or near, the top 10 and on his way to contending. It will be cool to have a Gracie in that position, especially someone with the kind of dominant skills Roger possesses. A busy summer for the Strikeforce brand.
