Brian Stann has just been doing work since he moved down to the UFC Middleweight Division. He's been able to impose his will on many of his opponents and bring down the power he had from the Light Heavyweight Division. I'm looking forward to seeing who they pit against him next. If I were Joe Silva, I would match him against a wrestler and there's a couple who come to mind. It looks like Stann has been able to play his game on his feet where he's most dangerous -- it'll be interesting to see if he can challenge when there's a dude with a crazy double leg takedown.
Chael Sonnen (25-11-1): Is Stann a contender? He may well be, but let's put him against one of the best wrestlers in the Middleweight Division -- maybe in the UFC. Sonnen is a beast and is able to take anyone down and impose his will while on the ground. The question would be whether Stann would stuff his takedown or even out strike the wrestler. The Spider couldn't do it -- let's just put it that way.
Mark Munoz (10-2): OK, maybe Sonnen would be a big leap for Stann. Although, would the Filipino Wrecking Machine be an easier matchup? Munoz is another great wrestler who has relentless takedowns along with huge power in his hands. Would Stann be able to match the power and wrestling prowess of another fighter who moved down from Light Heavyweight?
Tim Kennedy (13-3): This is just a fun matchup because of military background by both of the fighters. Although, the big difference I see is that Kennedy has more of a grappling background than Stann and that may be the big difference. Stann does hold a ton of power but will that matter when you're on your back getting grounded-n-pounded by a wrestler who took you down. Not sure, but I'd like to see how he'd fair.
