In a rematch of their UFC 76 bout, #2 Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will face #6 Forrest Griffin.
#4 Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will attempt to cut to the front of the line for a title shot when he takes on #16 Matt Hamill at UFC 130.
#7 Ryan Bader is set to squash unranked Tito Ortiz at UFC 132 in one of the more pointless fights that will take place this year.
And in one of the more fascinating fights that will take place this year, #8 Dan Henderson will take on heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson.
Based on the premise that all MMA rankings are subjective but that it’s still useful and informative to know who the online MMA community as a whole ranks as the best fighters in MMA, we collect and average the rankings of the top MMA websites to produce our consensus rankings. We compile the top MMA rankings from each of our sources and award 25 points for a first place ranking, 16 for a 10th place ranking, 1 for a 25th place ranking. A formula is used to "normalize" the data so all fighters are awarded points from those lists that do not include a full 25 fighters. This formula ensures that each ranking site awards the same number of total points regardless of how many fighters they choose to rank. Each fighter’s total is divided by the number of possible points to determine their standing in the Consensus Rankings.

"What?"
He’s pointing out the fact that you’re trolling via your rankings. Ranking Jones below the guy he just annihilated is not ridiculous — it’s IRL trolling. Congrats.

Yes
Jones wrecked Rua
Rua wrecked Machida
Machida wrecked Evans
Jones has not faced Evans or Machida
Rua has not faced Evans or Machida
Given that, it would be sensible to rank: Jones, Rua, Machida, Evans
Your Ranking: Evans, Machida, [Jackson],Rua, Jones
We call that “trolling” on the internet.
Good luck with the Rapture tomorrow!

I disagree.
Seeing as how Jones fought incredibly dirty in his fight with Rua, I’m choosing to ignore the result. Evans has the best overall record against top 10 opposition in the past 3 years making him #1. Then Machida. Then Jackson. Then Rua who suffers from lack of activity. And then Jones who has two top 10 wins in his career and is quickly becoming known as a dirty fighter.

A handy dandy reference guide I created awhile back:
Elbows to the throat at 1:30 on the clock in Round 2, :031 on the clock in round 2, 0:28 on the clock in round 2, 0:13 on the clock in round 2, all clearly intentional. Just rechecked the second half of that round in slo-mo. There were a couple unintentional looking ones in round 1, the round 2 ones were clearly aimed at the trachea, just barely lifting off the neck and then dropping back down.
Thumb jammed straight in Shogun’s eye with 2:43 shown on the clock of round 1. Hand wide open and spread and just digs it into his eye. Also puts an open hand to his eyes standing around 1:34 of round 1. Also a headbutt around :025 left in round 1.
All times are what the UFC graphic clock shows as left in the round. Not gonna make anybody do subtraction since arithmetic sucks.
"Someone is WRONG on the internet. What do you want me to do? LEAVE? Then they'll keep being wrong!"
-Randall Munroe
cool, even more reasons to root against him
I hate when I feel something at the same time as a mass of others as it means I have to jump on a band wagon. But I am really starting to consider jumping on the anti-Jones wagon here.

Does that make you rank him below #1?
Bernard Hopkins has a reputation for riding the line on rules too, but it doesn’t make what he did to Pascal any less impressive. The Detroit Pistons won every one of their championships with tactics most people would call dirty, but they were still impressive teams. The Denver Broncos used a blocking scheme that is now illegal because of the damage it does to defensive players to win their two Super Bowls.
I personally like athletes who are a little rough, but even if you don’t, it doesn’t mean you downgrade their accomplishments.

Fuckups with rankings, can we just exclude HKL from the consensus part? Truthfully, as an editor of website its not becoming to let personal bias and emotion control something like that.
Jones is one, rashad is two, three is either griffin or page, and four or five is machida or rua. Those are the top six guys, and Bones is one. there is just no way to substantiate any other argument.

Uncool
Being part of the most publicized ranking system in the sport, and then using it as a platform to make a joke out of it. That’s majorly uncool. If you don’t want to treat the privilege with a modicum of respect, then you should bow out. Either respect the process, or don’t.

And not Iole for ranking Hamill over Phil Davis. Or Leland ranking Feijao over Phil Davis. I’m not trying to pass the buck but when it doesn’t have an overall effect on the rankings at the top (#1 spot) there isn’t an issue. But ranking Hamill over Phil or Feijao over Phil drops Davis’ spot more significantly.
