In the aftermath of UFC 129 I've had a lot of mixed feelings. At first I felt upset with the outcome and overall main event bout. After a night of simply fantastic fights I almost felt cheated, like GSP and Jake Shields had orchestrated a well thought out "trolling"
But after arguing and posting on our lovely site here I realized what we witnessed wasn't a trolling but actually a masterpiece. What we have here are model athletes, they're proving MMA isn't just two buffoons in a ring trying to kill each other, it is the opposite of a bloodsport. Here we have two athletes in their prime who are conscious of what is at stake for acting on emotion. They have sponsorships and career longevity to put first. We ask too much of these fighters sometimes, we are asking them to risk their lives and livelihood at risk for our entertainment.
We should be happy for the GSP's, the Frankie Edgar's, the Jon Fitch's and the like; setting examples for the rest. We have technicians here proving MMA is a thinking mans game. There are three very abled ringside judges there for a reason.
Thank you all, for showing that a perfectly executed gameplan is truly the highest form of entertainment and the purest form of sport.
