UFC 129 Results Recap: Jose Aldo vs. Mark Hominick
UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo defended his title via a five round unanimous decision over Mark Hominick.
What was the high spot of this fight?
In round four, Aldo dropped Hominick with a right hand and immediately Hominick developed a huge hematoma over his right eye. It was a pretty shocking moment.
Where do these guys go from here?
Aldo will keep on defending his featherweight title. Most likely it will be against Chad Mendes. That is a tough fight but stylistically, Hominick was probably a tougher fight for him.
Mark Hominick put up a great fight, even having a huge fifth round that could have been scored 10-8. This was, by far, the toughest test we've seen Aldo up against and that speaks very highly for Hominick. I have no clue what the next fight is for him, but I'd hope they don't set him back too far as I'm very interested in an eventual rematch.
Watch it now, later, or never?
This was a very competitive title fight, I'd say watch it now. But you can watch it later if you really want. But you can't watch it never. That's not allowed.

Awesome fight,
and although I don’t think Aldo was at his best (due to a ton of reasons- presumably being sick, the injury layoff, UFC debut in a huge arena filled with raucous/ antagonizing Canadians, traveling to Hominick’s home turf, etc), I think this showed exactly what he needs to work on- his punching technique. He showed some good head movement, and landed some good shots, but got sloppy with his hands at times- particularly his right cross.
He repeatedly made the same common MMA mistake- instead of pivoting on his rear foot and bending at the knees, he lunged forward and overextended himself, throwing himself off balance and robbing the punch of it’s full power. Once he can learn to pivot and sit on that cross, it will be deadly.

I dont care if Aldo had a cold
Hominick had a swollen brain and scored what should of been a 10-8. Id love a rematch.
If that last round was a 10-8,
then I think the first round should’ve been a 10-8 for Aldo. Jose gave Mark the business in the first frame, numerous power punches and hard kicks, as well as the takedowns and elbows from the top.

id have to rewatch it but zero chance
First round was 10-8. Hominick had Aldo flustered on the feet first few rounds and Aldo essentially did nothing with top control until those short elbows in round 3 or 4. All around Aldo’s ground game looked extremely unimpressive even early on.
FightMetric actually ruled the 1st Round as 10-8 in favor of Aldo. They ruled the 5th Round as 10-9 in favor of Hominick.
I didn’t see Aldo get flustered at all by Hominick’s stand-up game. He was in control the whole time. He dictated.

Aldo dominated the 1'st round.
I remember watching it and marveling at how soundly he as beating Mark up, and dodging nearly everything in that round.

It is pretty much a "watch it later"
It wasn’t over the top amazing, just competitive and interesting.
