UFC welterweight Jake Ellenberger scored a first round knockout of Sean Pierson at UFC 129.
What was the high spot of this fight?
The crushing power shot that stiffened Pierson's limbs and sent him tumbling to the ground.
Where do these guys go from here?
Ellenberger has won 4 straight UFC fights after dropping a very close split decision to Carlos Condit in his first trip to the Octagon. I would hope that he is given better fights than guys with limited upside coming off horribly sloppy brawls.
Pierson had a six fight win streak stopped at the left hand of Ellenberger. I don't know that he will find long-term success in the UFC but I'd assume an undercard bout against another 170 pounder coming off a loss is in order. From there we can get a better idea of where he fits in the roster.

Really impressed by Ellenberger.
He is just so damn dangerous early, and his technique is improving to the point where that crushing power and explosive speed is being harnessed. Pierson is a solid striker and Jake just crushed him.
As a 35 year old, I just don’t think Pierson will ever reach gold at this point. He can have some entertaining fights and earn some nice paychecks with careful matchmaking, though. Chris Lytle or Dan Hardy would be fun.

Ellenberger deserves a step up in competition.
Winner of Story vs. Alves would be excellent.

I think whoever looks the best out of Condit/ Kim and Story/ Alves should fight Ellenberger.

Man I love Ellenberger
but after the Rocha fight he really gave me some cause to doubt him. I want to see how he does against the Big Boys. A fight against Kampmann or Alves is something I need to see. Is he the next beasty WW or Robbie Lawler
