According to a report from Sherdog.com, sources close to the Pan-American bronze medalist wrestler are confirming that Maximo Blanco has signed a four-fight deal with Strikeforce.
Blanco has impressively ascended through the ranks after entering the sport as a training fighter under the Sengoku banner. He amassed a mediocre 2-2-1 record in his first five appearances, but proved he had huge potential with stunning displays of power against Hiroki Aoki and Seigo Inoue.
He won his next six consecutive fights, defeating Katsuya Inoue for the Lightweight King of Pancrase crown, Strikeforce veteran Rodrigo Damm, and most recently South Korean Won Sik Park. The combination of world class wrestling ability coupled with the speed and power of his stand-up game could prove to be a tough skill-set to counter with some more seasoning.

I'd be curious to know the details of the contract
This is the first significant Strikeforce signing since the Zuffa purchase and i’d be curious to know if Blanco could make a quick transition to the UFC should he really impress in his first couple fights.

I really hope Zuffa uses Strikeforce as a feeder promotion
They need to cultivate prospects like Maxi before putting him on the big stage.

Awesome.
When they posted that he signed with an American management company my first post was I hope he goes to Strikeforce. I think this is the best home for him at the moment, no lies. Gives him space to make his name before the UFC swallows up SF at which point he’ll be in the big leagues.
A fight against Masvidal or Noons would be saweet. Even a Josh Thompson cause he isn’t fightin anyone right now
Melendez will smash him.
Blanco vs. JZ would be fun though.
If...
…SF wasn’t purchased by ZUFFA, I’d be more excited for SF, but since thats not the case, Im only so so excited. But excited either way I suppose.
Maxi adrenaline dumps that I don't have to wait until 4am for?
YESSSSSS….

Maxi vs Gurgel/Thompson
would indeed be a nice warm up fight. I just wonder how his wrestling would stack up with melendez. what does the pan-am bronze even stand for? I mean are there other successful fighters with a pan-am medal in wrestling?
