UFC 130 Video: Stefan Struve Documentary In Preparation For Travis Browne - Episode 2

Here's the second episode of the AFAV documentary that follows Stefan Struve as he prepares for his UFC 130 bout against Travis Browne. As Head Kick Legend's Brent Ducharme pointed out, the most interesting part of this episode, is footage of Struve sparring with one of the best kickboxers in the world, in Daniel Ghita. The 6'11 fighter already has a good ground game, and working on his striking with one of the best in the world is certainly going to help him effectively utilize his height and reach advantages.

Another interesting topic tackled on this episode is Struve's weight gain. The Dutch fighter made his UFC debut more than two years ago at a lanky 240 lbs, and has been steadily filling up his 6'11 frame:

I'm up to about 260 lbs, maybe a little bit more... The big heavyweights cut down from 280 I think. Guys like Lesnar, and Carwin... and because I'm that tall, it's easier for me to put on muscle and keep my speed and my agility. I think I want to go up around 280, 290, as long as I keep my speed and agility. I don't want to do it too fast. I want to do it in a natural way, so I'm eating a lot of healthy food, and I'm not using any strength supplements or whatever, I'm only using protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and stuff like that. I think if I do it that way, work my way up to 290, and cut down to 265 for the weigh-ins, then step in the cage between 280 and 290, then people are going to have a problem with that. I'll have a height advantage, a weight advantage. I'll be good on the feet, and good on the ground... It's going to be fun.

Sounds like a good career plan for him, as it looks like he's taking the proper steps to develop properly. The future seems bright for this 23-year-old fighter, who is already heading for his eighth UFC bout.
