The UFC announced last night that Anthony Perosh has suffered an injury, and will pull out of his UFC 131 fight with Krzysztof Soszynski. Replacing Perosh against Soszynski will be Igor Pokrajac (23-8, 2-3 UFC), who most recently TKOd Todd Brown at UFC on Versus 3.

Well, this is a supremely irrelevant fight between the only two fighters to have lost to Stephan Bonnar in the last three and a half years.

Well, Soszynski is usually pretty entertaining, and up until his loss to Vera, was on a good run with many seeing great things in his future with a win to Vera. I have a bigger problem with Pokrajac than I do with Soszynski, really. Pokrajac’s fight against Bonnar was pretty boring, and he was flat out dominated by him. At least Soszynski was competitive with Bonnar in both fights, and both were very exciting fights. I see Soszynski winning this rather easily and then possibly completing his trilogy with Bonnar down the line.
Not trying to start anything here, but I feel the need to say this
Lost to K-Sos via TKO from a cut, then avenged that “loss”. Going back further, he lost to Coleman. Yeah, I know, not pretty. But do you guys remember when he fought Rua? Not pretty at all. Plenty of reasons for Rua to have a fight like that, right? How about we give Bonnar the benefit of the doubt, too instead of jumping on the hate train (it departs right after the Amir hate-mobile). Going back further, he lost to none other than Jon Jones. No explanation needed. Sometimes someone just outclasses you when they are clearly on another level. He tried his best. Before that? 2 wins. Before that? Loses to UFC mainstays Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans. Before that? He beat Jardine, Irvin, and Hoger.
Do you see where I’m going with this, besides running down his record? With some logical thinking it should be easy to see that Stephan Bonnar is a good middle-of-the-pack fighter who, while showing flashes of brilliance occasionally, more often then not just goes out there and guts out a fight that unfortunately way too many people think he doesn’t belong participating in. He is fun, entertaining, intelligent, well-rounded, and respectful. The guy personifies what a real fighter is.

Except that he’s not that good of a fighter. Not now, at least. He hasn’t beat a relevant fighter in five years and was caught using horse steroids. That’s not to say I don’t like Stephan Bonnar – he seems like a good enough guy, he never quits, etc. I just don’t think he has much to contribute as an active fighter.

Everyone has their own opinion. People have different tastes. You might enjoy watching GSP cruise to decisions with little entertainment value throughout. I’d rather watch guys like Bonnar.
Only reason Bonnar is an exciting fighter is because he doesn’t have 1/10th of GSP’s talents and as a result, he gets hit in the face often and bleeds like a pig. He’s got one tough chin. Without that chin, he’d lose by KO or TKO within minutes of each of his fights. So, to summarize, he’s exciting to watch, sure, but it’s not because he’s a good fighter, it’s because he’s not very skilled, gets hit in the face often, has a good chin and gets cut easily.

Lots of injuries lately
What’s going on? Maybe fighters need to be safer in sparring/training leading up to a fight.

I think fighters are just excited to test out the new insurance policy.

![Always honest, Forrest Griffin tells Sherdog he's anticipating a difficult weight cut and conditioning issues for his upcoming fight in Rio against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua:
"I definitely put on more weight than I would like," Griffin told Sherdog.com. "I need to cut weight and it won’t be easy. I’ll have a lot of problems until the fight in Brazil, but I’ve gotta do it. I don’t want to fight at heavyweight, so I gotta cut that f--king weight."
"He’s one of the best fighters ever," Griffin said of his opponent, who he submitted in September 2007. "He has a blitz style. He goes forward. He’s dangerous. I gotta make him move backward and let’s see what happens. I want to go hard for all 15 minutes of the fight."
"It’s difficult to adjust yourself [to another country]," said Griffin. "There’s the jetlag thing, and it’s difficult to make weight since Brazil doesn’t have the distilled water I use in the U.S. and the food I need to eat. It’s always difficult to change your routine when you go to another country. I feel stupid because I can’t communicate with people from the hotels and can’t even say how I want my eggs. It’s clearly a pain in the ass."
