UFC 129 Results Recap: John Makdessi vs Kyle Watson
UFC lightweight John Makdessi caught Kyle Watson with a perfect spinning backfist for the KO at 1:27 of the third round of their UFC 129 bout. It was the second fight of the night and was streamed on the UFC's Facebook page.
What was the high spot of this fight?
Makdessi's highlight reel spinning back fist is far and away the most notable moment of the fight. He's got to be cursing Steven Seagal for teaching Lyoto Machida an even more dramatic flying front snap kick that stole the $129,000 Knock Out of the Night bonus.
Where do these guys go from here?
The 25 year old Makdessi improves to 9-0, 2-0 in the UFC. He'll rapidly come to a cross-roads in his career where he can push for more money and higher caliber opponents or spend a little bit more time on the undercard of Canadian events improving his game against guys on the bottom rung of the UFC ladder.
Watson drops to 1-1 in the UFC. He's a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter so that might buy him another fight in the UFC, but as over-crowded as their roster is right now, don't be surprised if he gets his walking papers.
Watch it now, later, or never?
Watch the spinning back fist now, but unless you're coaching someone who might have to fight Makdessi in the near future the rest of the fight is fast-forward city.

This was fight of the night and knockout of the night
But Aldo and Hominick was a pretty good fight and the Lyoto knockout was jaw dropping

This was a better fight than Aldo v. Hominick?

Henderson/Bocek
Was by far the most exciting fight of the night, not a single dull moment the entire time
I thought so too
Let the fighters fight, let the referees ref, but dear God, don't let the judges judge.
The crack of that spinning back fist was unbelievably loud
Amazing knockout, probably going to be one of the top 10 if not top 5 of this year for sure

wow, that's solid contact
Makdessi loads up like he’s throwing the right leg, and steps through with the spinning back fist.
Watson drops his left to protect the body, and boom goes the dynamite. Color me impressed.

The way Mak's fist bounces off Watson's head
is just gnarly. I about shat when that happened live.
It was almost as cool when Watson tried a spinning backfist, missed, and Mak countered with one. Then Joe Rogan commented “No, this is how you do it.” Great moment.

I like to see how Makdessi handles a good wrestler
and Jacob Volkmann isn’t doing anything

Reminds me a lot of Benavidez...
Is Makdessi’s size going to be an issue going forward?
Sure beating Audinwood and Watson is a good start, but he would be better off making the cut and fighting at a weight more suited to his height.
I think he would be a real force at Featherweight..
what a spinning back fist
baited him nicely, and dropped him like a sack of bricks
