With Jon Fitch out of their fight with a shoulder injury, B.J. Penn has decided to withdraw from the card according to MMA Junkie. Carlos Condit petitioned to get the fight against Penn, but the UFC has stopped looking for an opponent because of Penn's request:
Sources indicated while the UFC was actively seeking a new opponent, Penn preferred to reschedule his next contest.Dave Meltzer (subscription only) is reporting that the real reason could be an injured B.J. Penn:
B.J. Penn’s next fight is up in the air. Penn suffered an undisclosed injury and is getting it looked at and getting an MRI done this week. Depending on how that goes will depend if he’s moved back a show or given a new opponent for 7/2.
