Strikeforce: Kawajiri, Aoki, Takaya - Fight for Japan Video

While Japanese MMA is on hold following the devastating earthquake, Japan's DREAM promotion produces a video in support of three of their fighters who are coming to California to compete at Strikeforce: Diaz vs Daley. Tatsuya Kawajiri, Shinya Aoki and Hiroyuki Takaya will all be fighting this Saturday on Showtime:
Tatsuya "Crusher" Kawajiri - "I think martial arts is about beating up each other. (Fighting on April 9th) is not about encouraging people with my fight. I want to hang in there with everybody out there. Re-start point for Japan. If I win, it should become so."

Shinya "Tobikan Judan" Aoki - "This situation motivates me. I'm going to go up the ladder with this situation."

Cool video

let’s hope Zuffa picked up the Strikeforce creative department when they bought them out.

Best damn promo vids.

Almost all Pride promos were classics.

Made you just want to fight- with honor.

@av103 – I dunno if you saw the Scott Coker interview on Inside MMA, but Zuffa did absorb SF’s marketing department. Also, Coker revealed that SF’s marketing department was actually a marketing GUY, so he just fell in with the 25+ people Zuffa has doing their promos.

But yeah, this is a Dream promo. Just felt like addressing your comment.

I believe some Dream production personnel were already hired for this event prior to the Zuffa purchase, btw. Hopefully they were hired permanently.

Also, I hope they at least tried to get Satoshi Ishii moved to this event when they couldn’t get him a visa for the Challengers show, as that would have made a lot of sense (not against Mousasi but on a prelim match anyway).

Coker did say something to that effect, but IIRC that was still when 4/9 was going to be the 2nd set of Heavyweight GP fights and it was also prior to the earthquake.

Oh and it was also prior to that whole Zuffa buyout thing.

WAR CRUSHER.

Awesome video.

"Referees, be sure to step in and stop the fight on time tomorrow, because I might get carried away in the moment and my many punches may end up destroying my opponent." - Tatsuya "CRUSHER" Kawajiri

Dream Promos Always Kill

They show the good the bad and the ugly… Not the one dimensional wannabe Korn song with the same KO being shown 9 times that ZUFFA does.. high times and the low times..I hope the Japs bring it and do climb the ladder again. Dana would benefit to listen to this marketing department or marketing guy..

my few friends who are UFC fans that I got into watching DREAM would always hit me up and be all like “what’s with those stupid videos with the guy tap dancing and Aoki picking his nose and Sakuraba in a fucking diaper, and what’s with that stupid baka survivor song or that oh happy day song, that shit is garbage”

by Rob Young on Apr 7, 2011 3:49 AM EDT up reply actions

“oh and that one dude who comes out to we are the world, that is kinda suspect”

by Rob Young on Apr 7, 2011 3:50 AM EDT up reply actions

Ditto

Sometimes I don’t even bother trying to get people into J-MMA because they get so turned off by the culture and are so closed-minded about it all. Anti-“Oh Happy Day” plus the adoption of the whole “if it’s not UFC, then they’re amateur” mentality = I stop dealing with them altogether.

The loyal few who dive in all love it though. Because seriously, HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE MINOWAMAN???
