Idk

Joe Daddy is pretty shredded at LW, i’m not sure if he’ll comfortably make 145.

We’ll see, though. Maybe featherweight is his optimal division.

I’m shocked they’re giving Joe another fight. TUF winner thing I guess.

Really? I think Joe can win this one

Javier Vasquez can be decisioned if you can get him down and avoid his submissions.

Joe Stevenson might not be Chad Mendes, but he’s probably solid enough to secure a clinch based takedown game that would earn him a UD.

I think that that's all true

But I also think Joe is going to look even worse in this fight than he did against Castillo. He’s shot and he’s dropping a weight class.

I agree 100% Neil, Joe’s skill set at any devision at this point of his career is just average at best inside the UFC. Lets not forget that Vasquez wrestling and clinch work is very solid. He not only hung with but also took down Deividas Taurosevicius and L.C. Davis in those fights. The reason I bring that up bolth of them have way better wrestling credential’s then Joe and are also better at MMA wrestling then Stevenson ever was. If Vasquez had that much Success with those 2 opponents I just don’t see him having many problems at all with Joe Daddy.Eather he wins a decision or I can actually see Vasquez getting a takedown getting to Stevensons back and choking him out.

It would also not shock meat all if Javy puts Joe away on the feet. One thing that I have noticed the last 3 or so years sence around the Florian fight is Stevenson can no longer take a shoot/punch like he ounce did. He retreats into himself almost like Frank Mir does after getting hit hard and he also seems to get droped very easy now and ends up getting finished ounce hurt. It has seemed to get worse also especially when Mac Danzig is Ko’ing you cold. I like Joe alot but I just don’t think he is UFC talent anymore even in a gatekeeper role.

I’m shocked they’re giving Brown another fight. I think Rich is gonna blow him up but I don’t see why the UFC keeps him around

Yay! We get to see 7-7 since 2006, three embarrassing losses in a row Joe Stevenson in the UFC still!

On the same card as welterweight contender Matt Brown no less! Huzzah!

You know, seeing something like this irks me a little bit. Don’t watch the fight if you don’t want to see it. I like watching them because they put on fun fights. There’s a couple things to consider, is this fight going to take over a fighter for someone else? Is it going to take that spot? No, probably not. Does having Stevenson on the roster mean the UFC can’t sign another featherweight? If they cut him, would they immediately add some hot prospect in his place? No … they wouldn’t. The UFC will sign who they want to sign and these guys being in the UFC really shouldn’t affect you in such a way.

And then God created Saturn ... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.

Damn, Joe is gonna be a HUGE featherweight. Dunno what exactly he walks around at but he’s pretty solid for a lightweight. Regardless, he better win this or it’s bye-bye Joe.

The FW division is filling out nicely. Joe will be nice addition at 145 if he can get back on track.

Should be a great grappling match. Nothing against Joe, but I have a soft spot for Showtime.

"Showtime!"

Top 10 nickname in popularity, I think. Up there with “Pitbull” (esp. if you include variations), “Hammer” “Assassin” (esp. if you include variations), “Hitman” and “Lights Out”

Seriously, guys, if this is the best you can do, go without.

How about Javier “Primetime” Vasquez? Not all that original, but it stays close to “Showtime” without straying too far.

Eh, I don’t have a problem with this. I don’t like the UFC cutting guys just because they have a losing record. Stevenson’s still clearly better than a lot of lower-tier LW’s who are sitting on wins. There should be a lot more job security once you’re in the UFC.

by crazybones on Apr 4, 2011 4:48 PM EDT reply actions

Stevenson just lost to Danny Castillo.

And got knocked out by Mac Danzig. Two lower-tier UFC LWs.

They should have just fed him to Ross Pearson to give Ross a “name opponent” and then cut their losses afterwards because Joe ain’t old but he looks DONE.

I’d still pick him over a bunch of lightweights, and even more featherweights. But yeah, losing to Castillo is pretty bad.

There’s just so many ways to try and be funny and answer that question. Something about Pat Barry, stripping, underwear, Kongo and testicular strikes.

I’m not surprised that Stevenson hasn’t been cut yet as he is an early TUF winner and is relatively known. He is generally a game fighter as well in that I can’t think of too many boring fights of his in the UFC. Stevenson is on such a downward slope that I just can’t see him winning, and it will be his first weight cut to 145. I will be rooting for Joe Daddy, but Vazquez is pretty good, and having your most recent loss being to Chad Mendes isn’t such a bad thing. I think that Vazquez is better on the ground than Stevenson, but Stevenson may have better wrestling.

The headliner KOTC missed out on 8 years ago because of the knee injury, coming to a Facebook stream near you. I don’t care. I will always love watching Javy Vazquez fight and this will be no different.

Interesting, he is in the same boat as Tyson Griffin though… sitting on 3 straight losses, this is his last shot to prove that he stays .
