This is a really hard fight to pick

Mike Pierce almost finished Fitch, he would have if he got a round four, but Johny Hendricks is also just so tough. Hits hellishly hard, and his stand up keeps on improving

Should be a nitty, gritty match that you don’t know the winner till the final bell

Two very good fighters

Likely not very exciting, but i will look forward to it nonetheless.

Not exciting?

Both of these guys last 2 wins are stoppages.

Don't you know the rules!

If they are wrestlers they can’t be exciting. It’s just against the rules of the world, you wouldn’t want poor sherdog to lose the one thing they understand would you?

Is that anything like "shitdog"

I heard Dana saying something about a “shitdog” once…..maybe he was talking about baseball food.

Finishes doesn’t necessarily equal excitement.

LOL ok dude.

Watch Hendricks vs. Alex Serydukov

And Hendricks vs. Charlie Brennaman.

Hendricks tends to be very entertaining when he is steamrolling someone.

But when he faces a tough guy like Pierce, who can presumably at least get close to matching his wrestling skill, a lot of leaning on eachother against the cage will likely be the outcome. The ground battles will likely also be more centered on control than finishes, due to the consequences of a mistake. Watch Hendricks vs Story. But as i said, this is my opinion on how the fight will play out. Feel free to have your own.

by Magaca on Apr 28, 2011 7:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Hendricks vs Story was definitely the outlier in Hendricks’ career so far – you could see that his gameplan fell apart when he found out that Story is a damn good wrestler in his own right and the two ended up getting into a grind-out. It’s a good experience for Hendricks to have, gives him a lot of stuff to think about in training and allows him to develop a better approach to those situations. The ability to “adjust on the fly” is a skill in its own right and it can take time to really build that skill.

I liked Cro Cop/Mir.

People just like to criticize and bitch.

Learn JiuJitsu, it's fun.

by RolloTomasi on Apr 28, 2011 8:12 PM EDT up reply actions

I didn't say that.

I said people like to bitch and moan about fights that aren’t “exciting” enough for them.
If it’s so boring go watch something else. All the booing and other disrespectful acts towards the fighters grind my gears.
I’ve fought as an AM, it’s a goddamn tough job, try it sometime.

I was holding a cheese grinder to my face and threatening to grind my face off, that’s how bad Cro Cop / Mir was.

Another excellent fight happened too soon.. I think they should be sending these young capable prospects after the veterans, and when they finally make it to the top, then come full circle and fight each other…

Like Bader / Jones shouldn’t have happened IMO, I like stuff where they are putting the new breed against the old breed, and then when title implications are on the line, make the fight…

Kind of like how you don’t make Cain/Carwin/Dos Santos unless it’s for the belt. HW is not nearly as deep, but I don’t know. Just a personal opinion on the critiques of the matchmaking ….

this is a great fight to see who can compete at the top level

The point I was trying to make was, that I feel they should pretty much already be considered top level…

You think Cain/Carwin/Dos Santos should have all fought each other way before getting anywhere near the belt?

by p123 on Apr 28, 2011 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions

True…I did bring that up as well…

But, I don’t know, there’s big fights, not happening, because they are happening too early IMO… It’s easy to do in retrospect, but I think everyone is well aware of who the really strong prospects are you know?

I think people are well aware that Hendricks is going to be a something eventually, as well as Pierce/Story/Ellenberger…

Obviously it can get too be too much, if you start saving too many of them for the backburner, but in a reasonable fashion, I think it’s good business sense…

Perhaps I’m thinking to much into it though…

Megatron takes this.. its about time his management gets him a good fight instead of sitting around texting and wearing sunglasses. Fighting people making their UFC debut after bringing the fight to the arguably #3 WW in the world is absurd.

I still want an Alves/ Pierce fight… Alves has been ducking him though, in a way I hope he beats Story and the winner of this fight takes on the Alves/Story winner.

Very solid fight. I’d toss dough on Peirce though, if the line was right.

by moonlapse88 on Apr 28, 2011 10:25 PM EDT reply actions

It’s time for the Story/Ellenbeger/McDonald/Pierce/Hendricks to make their way up the ranks. The new breed is here, hopefully they start taking control like the other divisions…

by p123 on Apr 28, 2011 10:38 PM EDT reply actions

Please let Hendricks win.

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.

Mike Pierce

looks like he is wearing half of someone else’s face in that picture. There is clearly two distinct colours on his face

Anyway, good match up for guys that maybe could be title contenders in the future
