Dude's a grizzled vet, and Amir has 7 fights.
I think it’s a good matchup.

Well
this seems like a step down for Amir and Cole.
Duane "Bang" Ludwig is a step down from DaMarques Johnson?

Ludwig has been stopped countless times
Amir via whatever he wants.

Amir has 7 fights.
Ludwig has been in there with BJ Penn, Jens Pulver, ect. This isn’t gonna be a cake walk.

Beyond the Pulver fight
He’s beaten no one of significance and he’s been stopped by anyone good. Tyson Griffin of all people TKOed him.
Brad Blackburn has fought Chris Wilson, Ryo Chonan, Pat Healy, and Jay Hieron. Just because he’s a veteran of the sport doesn’t mean he isn’t very good at MMA.
Ludwig is awesome because he has the fastest KO in UFC history and he stopped Pulver. That’s about it.

Tyson Griffin KO'd Hermes Franca. Franca is tough as fuck to finish.
Who brought up Brad Blackburn?
Ludwig is awsome cuz he’s got power and he dosen’t just come to win, he comes to fight.
Respect the man.

Franca was overweight in that fight
And I think he got stopped again in his next fight. He looked out of shape.
Brad Blackburn is someone I brought up because he fought Sadollah and is just a notch below Ludwig in the “grizzled vet” category.
Ludwig was close to losing to Nick Oh-ship-shack. Can’t see what he can bring for Sadollah as I think Amir will eat him up standing and if it goes to the ground he’ll kick his ass there.

So because you think Amir will win this is a bad matchup?
What?

It's not a competitive matchup
Given how well Amir fought last month why is he fighting Ludwig?

Matchups aren’t easy to make. People turn them down. People get hurt. Money, ratings, etc. It doesn’t always work out ideally. In my opinion, I think a fun fight to watch would have been Amir vs. Hardy. Sure, they aren’t exactly next to each other in the rankings, but sometimes you have to put that aside. It would be a fun fight to watch. It wouldn’t kill Amir’s career if he lost, and it is a fight that Hardy should win if we wants to stay relevant.
Amir vs. Hardy would've been perfect
But I don’t think the UFC is interested in giving Hardy anyone with even a hint of a ground game.
If we ignore that, if Amir wins that’s a good notch on his belt and it gets Hardy out of the UFC. If he loses then well he knows what he needs to work on.

Hey man, don't talk crap about Nick Osipczak
He was robbed vs story and ludwig, and it was close with his fight with soto.
He very well could have gone 3-0 in those fights

The Ludwig fight was no robbery.
The 2’nd round was very close (a draw round IMO), and the 3’rd round could be seen as a 10-8 for Ludwig. I thought the fight was a draw, but a close split decision in this case is definitely not a robbery.

With Amir’s performance against DeMarques Johnson, I would think that the UFC would give him a step up in competition. Ludwig just comes off like another opponent that Amir could and should beat, and an opponent that’ll stand with Amir.

Amir is not a UFC level fighter.
His only win that has a real case of belonging in the UFC is Dollaway, and I’m still not totally sold on that. He gets booked like a sub-par talent because he is a sub-par talent.

I wouldn't say UFC level fighter
He could beat a lot of the other fighters at WW. He’s just can’t manage against the top guys at 170.
Stun Gun and Hendricks are not top of 170
For now they’re middling.
Howard, Foster, and Story are all step-ups from Duane Ludwig.

Plus the Hendricks stoppage was early.

Stun Gun is undefeated and he beat Nate Diaz.

Not everyone is GSP. He is a middle of the pack kind of guy. We know that. He still goes in there, puts on entertaining fights, and continues to improve.
And again I’ll say, Stun Gun is going to continue to dominate a lot of people. He will be welterweight Yushin Okami. There is no shame in doing your best and coming up short to a guy on that level.
Plus the Hendricks stoppage was too soon. Not saying he would have won, but it’s not fair to hold that loss in the same light as a clear cut loss like the Stun Gun one.
He doesn't need to be GSP.
He’s notably worse than Dan Hardy, John Howard, Mike Pierce, Mike Pyle, Jake Ellenberger, Rumble, and damn near anybody at 170 in the UFC who isn’t there for their charming English accent or TUF or both like James Wilks. Paul Daley would crush him. Amir would handily lose early in a Bellator tournament, and get eaten alive in a “superfight” with Ben Askren. He’d be an underdog to Dan Hornbuckle.
Amir is not a UFC level talent, and at his age and inexperience level, he probably never will be.

Daley would crush a lot of people
I think Amir is UFC-level talent but he is not going to be a contender any time soon.

Besides losing to Hendricks and Stun Gun, which are both very tough opponents, I don’t see how he is notably worse than those you mentioned. I mean, what is it in his skill set that is so bad?

Not a UFC level fighter?
He won TUF at a weight higher than what he fights at now, plus he has a WINNING record in the UFC. Plenty of highly touted prospects have flamed out fighting lesser comp in the UFC

This is the UFC giving Sadollah another easy beat
And before you say it. Stun Gun and Hendricks aren’t easy beats, however if he doesn’t get a stoppage at least v Ludwig he doesn’t belong in the UFC.
He just stopped Johnson with elbows.

A late replacement Johnson who was hardly fight ready..
And cant be that convinced that Demarques is anything other than a relative easy beat.

Boy are they trying to spoon-feed Amir
There’s no way he doesn’t stop Ludwig.
I know Sadollah has not had a lot of pro MMA experience but come on….
Miller will smash O’Brien. I’d have loved to see Cole Miller vs. Joe Lauzon.

I think TJ Obrien is a very underrated fighter. He had Paul’s back before he went for a high risk high reward move, it backfired and he fell in a crucifix and was tko’d,
He was winning that fight against paul before his mistake, but i’m glad he went for it, shows he has balls.

Guess we know how Dana feels about these guys.
Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.
Duane Ludwig
has had a series of unfortunate fights lately… no one should overlook his technical muay thai ability though. That being said, Amir’s game plan should be to take him down rather than exchange standing.
Ludwig vs. Amir is a great fight in that it’s two guys who actually use technical stand-up skills who will (probably) engage in a muay thai-ish fight. If your stand-up preference is Leonard Garcia style throwdown, this may not deliver as you hope. But if you are into the technique behind stand-up, this is a nice fight. Different strokes for different folks.

Yeah, I like this fight alot.
Amir should be able to work his range with straight punches, land some of those round kicks, and work from the clinch. I also think he will be well served to try for takedowns, because I think from top position he has a much bigger advantage than he does standing.
