Damn fine job indeed.
All these matchups are so damn competitive… the only guys I have real confidence in winning are St. Pierre, Aldo, and Makdessi.

You have more faith in Makdessi than I do.
I also suspect you think more highly of him than Joe Silva does. Remember, his original opponent was Jon Brookins. Silva doesn’t match TUF winners up with guys he thinks they can’t handle. He obviously felt Brookins grappling would give him a good chance to win this fight, and while Watson is not as dynamic as Brookins, he is a very solid grappler.
Watson is aight.
He just didn’t blow me away at all during the show. Seems like a solid, if unspectacular fighter, and the kickboxing fanboy in me wants to see Makdessi excel.

Canadians i'm picking to win
GSP, Boceck, both Macdonalds and Yves Jabouin.
I got both MacDonalds, Georges, Makdessi, Bocek, Jabouin and Menjivar

I actually think Diaz will beat Macdonald. Should be an interesting fight though. He seems to be getting shoved into the deep end a bit soon. I know Diaz isn’t exactly elite or anything but Condit and Diaz at his age and experience level is pretty rough.

The only one i think has no real chance is Pierson.

Jake Ellenberger I hope he looks impressive
I thought he was on pace to be a contender until his last outing he didnt look to good.
Ellenberger’s not that great when he can’t land a big shot. He reminds me of Carwin in that respect – okay wrestling, kinda bad at everything else, but if he lands on you you’re fucked.
Jake Ellenberger would massacre Drew McFedries and Robbie Lawler

Ha
I was just saying that they are pretty one dimensional, but if either one lands a clean power shot it’s night-night time. I’m hoping they bring Drew back and put him in SF.

I havent heard a damn thing about Drew since like UFC 98......is he on a mission or something?

nah
He fought on a Titan card on HDnet not all that long ago. He beat up some hard headed samoan dude. I ran into him at some local fights not to long ago, he had a broke hand from the first round of that fight. He should be getting another fight soon.

According to Wiki he is fighting on Titan card again on 5/27 in KC.

Lawler is probably one of the better comparisons for Ellenberger
But Jake def has better wrestling. He was slamming Howard left and right and Howard is one strong dude.
Carwin has more than passable everything except cardio.

His wrestling is passable. You take away his ungodly power and his striking is horrifically bad. And he’s not good at… other stuff.
And if you take away BJ’s flexibility he is not as good at BJJ. What’s the point?

Not prepared to give Carwin a pass for the one fight we have really seen him gas?
And totally agree with the BJ Flexibility to Carwins Power rebuttal.
Not gonna give Carwin a pass for gassing out in less than a round. Not gonna happen.

Looks like Cesar Gracie won't be in the corner for this event
because he couldn’t get a visa. Gives me more confidence to pick Macdonald over Diaz.
Isn’t 6+ canadians winning and 1-4 losing kinda the same thing?

it's total wins
I hope you didn’t really read the options like that and think that 5 draws was one of the 3 choices

The Poll...
There’s ten fights listed… So isn’t the poll options: “1-4 lose” and “6+ win?” the same thing? I mean, if 4 lose, then that implies 6 win.
Canada..

Hey, if it leads to GSP giving Dana White a black eye backstage after the fight, I’m down
"Me, afraid of Michael Bisbing? Stop the jokes!" -Wanderlei Silva
GSP isn't good at giving somebody a black eye.
He either goes overboard on making it just a black eye:

Or he forgets to only mess up one of them:

after Shields and Okami title defenses.
Dana: Georges, you have to fight Anderson next, there is really nobody left. You HAVE to.
GSP: Im afraid that if I lose, I can never go back to WW again – i don’t want the Roy Jones Jr experience.
Dana: I don’t give a shit Georges, this is good for everybody. Nobody really losses. If you lose to Silva, then we will build you up again in the MW division. Silva is about to retire and probably after your superfight.
GSP: Can’t be sure of that Dana.
Dana: Fuck this. Remember BJ?!
GSP: Ofcourse, ladies love me.
Dana: Penn ofcourse, his name value didn’t drop after you defeated him. Fans respect those fighters who are willing to step it up. it wont be taken against you. Even if you lose, you’ll probably have more fans. You really have nothing to lose here Georges. You can be successful at the division as well. Come on Georges, weve been talking about this since 100.
GSP:Uhmm.. I need time.
Dana: Cmon now! Fuck this Georges.
To shake things up in the division. White screws GSP in Montreal against whoever is the next biggest challenger yet.

pffft, forget that. This is Canada's version of Captain America

Definitely. I actually give Shields a… probably 20% chance in their fight, which is more than I gave Kos and Hardy combined. Makdessi is going to manhandle Watson, that’ll be a clinic. I also think that Jason MacDonald will win handily. Or maybe I just hope that, he has a soft spot in my heart after his fight with Maia (there’s no way anyone like MacDonald should hang with Maia on the floor.)

Hard to dislike J-Mac,
and Jensen isn’t exactly a stud. Jason will probably outwork/ outgrapple him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Jensen won.

Just rewatched Hominick/ Jabouin
and holy fuck was that a great fight. Don’t really know where i’m going with that, but I maintain my position. I guess I do favor Jabouin over Garza, but Pablo is pretty badass in his own right, and has only ever had trouble with grapplers. That’s a pretty well matched fight IMO.
Claude Patrick is good, but Daniel Roberts really is a ninja on the ground. I see that as a highly competitive bout too.
Same with the Menjivar fight… I see him and Valencia as pretty even.
