But stepping up on a weeks notice
Against a tough fighter like Mousasi gets him at least one “easier” fight in Strikeforce.

Glad to see Keith find his way to a big fight again. Hard to see Keith beating Gegard on short notice, but I think this will be a fairly competitive, fun fight, and about a good a replacement as you could find. Tough road for a guy trying to work his way back, but he’s gotta take a good fight when he’s offered one.

Meh. I don't like this one bit for Jardine.

I'd actually feel bad
if Jardine won. I like him, but honestly it would be really embarrassing for Gegard to lose to him.

He has faced a lot better competition. One stretch he fought Bonner, Gouveia, Alexander, Lidell, Wandy, Vera, Rampage, Thiago Silva, Bader, Hammil. Thats a rough run

Still, Mousasi will probably be the most dangerous technical striker he’s faced. If Jardine decides to utilize his “unorthodox” striking style in this fight, his clock will be thoroughly cleaned.

I hope Keith works on takedowns...

‘dean of mean’ WORST nickname in the sport. just because you found words that rhyme with your name, doesn’t mean it’s cool. close second: j-lau.
Dean of mean makes sense is you know what the word dean means, if you want to talk about THE worst nickname in the sport I think frank “twinkle toes” trigg gets that award.
Still, Mousasi will probably be the most dangerous technical striker he’s faced. If Jardine decides to utilize his "unorthodox" undisciplined striking style in this fight, his clock will be thoroughly cleaned.
there ya go.
But Gegard is pure technique, and still young. His only loss in recent memory wasn’t really “controversial”, but he seemed to do more damage from the bottom than Mo did from the top. Of all Jardine’s opponents you named I only see Bader decisively beating Mousasi. I would absolutely love to see him fight Rampage though I don’t know which one would win the striking in that fight.
Oh man...
Now I’m all excited, thinking about a Rampage/Mousasi fight. That would be killer! Like Machida/Rampage only Mousasi’s more versatile. Rampage would be smart to use his wrestling though, and implement the gameplan he used against Hendo.
Fuck, I wanna see this fight now.
nah Bader aint shit. Mousasi would kill him

if Gegard can beat high lvl k-1 strikers in k-1, he's going to eat up Jardine
plus Jardine is really slow, seems to not have any wrestling and his chin is gone. I honestly can’t think of a way for Jardine to win this fight

Agreed
This will be a very one-sided beating…

I think Jardene could possibly win
Gergard’s last big fight was King Mo. Before that, it was Jacare. He doesn;t fight elite competition. With that being said, Mousassi TKO round 2
They told me to put a signature here.......so I did.

He's fought K-1 twice in the meantime, beating Kyotaro in his most recent outing
This is an absolutely terrible stylistic match-up for Jardine, unless of course Jackson comes up with something crafty
King Mo would UD almost any LHW not named Jones and I would take Jacare over any MW not named Anderson (they wouldn’t fight anyway).

LHW: Rampage, Machida and Rashad would all keep King Mo on the feet and blast him.
MW: Marquardt would be a good fight…maybe Okami too. I agree with you more on this one.
Rampage would have no chance imo at stopping Lawal’s takedowns. Machida has high level TDD imo, but mostly against clinch-based attacks. I can’t see him stopping his takedowns at all.
I think Rashad has far inferior wrestling and MMA Wrestling to Lawal, but he is quick and experienced so I could see him stopping at least some. Davis might have the defensive wrestling to stop some of them as well, at least in MMA.
Jacare is a beast – A stronger, better striking, better wrestling, even better BJJ version of Maia, I really can’t see anyone else at MW beating him.

Disagree with you there. Tito’s shot looked good during their fight and Machida stopped every one. Shogun may not be a high-level wrestler, but Machida stopped every one of his shots in the first fight too.
Oh I agree, he is good against non-elite wrestlers, but Lawal is as elite as they come.

this is one fight keith should've turned down
sure it’s tempting to sign with now zuffa owned strikeforce but mousasi is just way in a different league than keith. may be there was a special incentive for keith to agree to this fight. may be something like we won’t drop you from the promotion if you lose.
Yep
It won’t be as brutal of a mismatch as Overeem/Duffee, but it will end very badly for the Dean…

Jardine is already having problems with chronic migraines. For the sake of his health, I would hope that he doesn’t fight anymore, particularly against good strikers. Keith is one of the good guys, I’d hate to see him have serious health problems due to hanging on a bit too long to his MMA career.
In the clearing stands a boxer And a fighter by his trade And he carries the reminders Of ev'ry glove that layed him down Or cut him till he cried out In his anger and his shame "I am leaving, I am leaving" But the fighter still remains

He told Luke Thomas on MMA Nation prior to the Prangley fight that he was suffering from chronic migraines. He blamed them on his football career.

This is definitely the best replacement for Kyle on such short notice. Jardine is a quality light heavyweight, but I don’t think he can really offer anything to Mousasi besides toughness. Mousasi is a very accurate and technical striker, so I can see him get the KO or TKO win here.
Considering that Jardine is taking this fight on short notice, I expect him, win or lose, to get another fight in Strikeforce.

I hate that Jardine took this fight. He has almost no chance to win, unless he’s just happened to be in shape, so chances are he’ll get slaughtered. I hope he puts up a good fight.
Even in fabulous shape

Nice!
I’m a big Mousasi fan, so I’m happy to see he’s still on the card against a decent name opponent. He will win this easily. I’ve never really cared much for Jardine, so I don’t really care that it’s a bad fight for him, but it most certainly is. Mousasi by KO, late round 1.
Isn't OSP fighting at 205? Why not him?
I’m happy Jardine got picked up by SF, but I hope he and his camp put together a game plan to get this to the ground with Keith conscious.
Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?
George Carlin
Because OSP has had 3 fights in 3 months and is a potential future star, why possibly ruin that run with a short notice fight against a former champ when you can call in a shot fighter who still has a name?
Handing Gegard a easy win at the same time also enables them too sell a future title fight for him. It’s good business sense all around, and OSP vs. Mousasi can wait for the future when it possibly could mean something more important.

As bad a fight for Jardine as possible
Hoping to see Gegard in UFC soon.
Jardine will win. I know so 'cause I'm pulling for Gegard.
Honestly I’ve been thinking Jardine should retire since he came out of that loss against Prangley and complained about a nasty migraine during the fight. That’s juts not okay, to tempt lady luck like that.
That said, I believe my massive jinx will be enough to secure an ugly win for him.
I'm with you
It took Jones beating Rua to break the curse of incorrect picks that was hovering over me, ever since I said “no way Shogun even challenges Machida” before their first fight.
Thank goodness for Jones =-D
I think Gegard sucks. Jardine will expose him. Just my opinion. Let the flaming of me begin :P

Nah, you're welcome to your opinion
no matter how horribly wrong it is.
"Although detractors decry it as a brutal, bloody form of human cockfighting, aficionados know it is a brutal, bloody, totally f***ing awesome form of human cockfighting"
And wrong it is
Jardine is badly outmatched here. Mousasi isn’t the P4P king or anything, but he’s pretty damn good.
This sounds like Rashad's nightmare...
Jardine pulls off upset over Mousasi, and then on to beat Hendo for Strikeforce LHW title, just as Rashad wins UFC title, setting up a title unificatiion bout that Jardine announces he would happily accept.
