Buildup fight
For a guy with a lot of ring rust and a shallow gas tank.

When you think of it
Given the energy used up trying to finish Brock in the 1st round for nearly 3 minutes, wouldn’t any heavyweight get gassed?

Cain used the same amount of energy
Did not gass and finished Brock.
Yes
Because Cain fought a smarter fight.
Shane used more energy and through a ton of punches against the arms of Brock.
Cain’s also gone the distance before so we know his gas tank anyway. I still don’t think we should dismiss Carwin’s gas tank as useless just because he blew his was so badly in one round. It’s questionable but not a foregone conclusion getting to the 2nd round will be a disaster.

Cain's economy of technique helped him not gas.
Carwin did NOT pace himself at all.

Jeebus, do I want to see Carwin as HW champ.
Even though when he talks, everyone pisses and moans that he’s “Holier than thou” like JBJ.
He is buddies with Schaub, I doubt they would fight.
Personally, I think he is the biggest threat to Cain among any of the UFC HWs.

not sold on the whole schaub thing, thought crocop did a great job but got caught in the end unfortunately, hes got heavy hands, and is pretty athletic
I can probably see him in a title eliminator bout but thats probably going to be the furthest he will go

Schaub is a solid Heavyweight, but I find him to be solid but not spectacular (except for some of his highlight reel KOs). He has potential though and is still young in age and the MMA game, and I can see him breaking through to the next level. Schaub doesn’t have a lot of fights under his belt yet, and he trains with some good people, so I can see him getting a lot better in the future.

I think Carwin’s is more severe, due to the fact that he’s older, a public roid abuser now, and he’s coming off his only career loss. But Lesnar was definitely changed by the diverticulis, if only in personality.

this wasn’t intended to be his primary source of income. It just worked out that his athletic gifts took him way further into his MMA career than he ever anticipated.
the use of steroids to attain a competitive advantage cannot in itself be considered responsible. A sense of responsibility would be to understand the requirement to set an example to others, to explore one’s potential as a form of learning and knowing about one’s body and using even its limits in furtherance, also to understand the effect of cheating on one’s sport and one’s self especially where it may lead to an additional capacity to inflict damage that an opponent may carry for the rest of their lives – an opponent who may have chosen not to cheat in this way.
I don’t care how that appears, it represents my view.

I think Carwin will win if...
Carwin will win if he knocks out JOE, AND doesn’t just knock off the ring rust from him. If all he does is rock him, Carwin may still be suffering from lactic acidosis and get submitted by JOE via arm triangle or RNC.
Not sure what kind of shape JOE will be in either since he hasn’t fought in a few years, but Carwin is coming off surgery and a bit of a layoff himself. So there is a chance Carwin’s gas tank may not be as good as usual, either.
