I’ve always liked Cane, even after Nog whooped him.

Yeah,

the guy just went up against two of the best pure strikers at 205. He still has upside, although his southpaw problems are concerning.

are straight

slaps allowed? like if fighter A slapped fighter B, would he get penalized?

by disinferno06 on Apr 17, 2011 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm sure they are.

I know Rashad used a slap against Forrest. What do you mean by ‘straight’ slaps, though? Palm strikes? I think they’re legit, but have limited use.

by Cunny on Apr 17, 2011 3:01 PM EDT up reply actions

I actually meant

like straight up slapping someone. I worded it poorly, but thank you for the answer

by disinferno06 on Apr 17, 2011 4:41 PM EDT up reply actions

They're fine.

I will say though, guys who strike with the open palm tend to accidentally poke an eye.

Yeah, that's the kind of slap Rashad used against Forrest.

Grabbed his dick and straight pimpslapped the dude. Some people never regained respect for Griffin after taking that.

Can anyone fill me in..

As to what we might expect to see from Stanislav Nedkov?

Don't let my support confuse you, I am in fact a fan of the Giants.

Powerful wrestler; BJJ black belt; good ground-n-pound; on the feet he is nothing more than a brawler with power.

by KAN0 on Apr 17, 2011 12:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh yeah

and by good g-n-p I mean it is completely devastating.

by KAN0 on Apr 17, 2011 12:15 PM EDT up reply actions

I was a little put off by the fact that

his last two wins were a split decision over Kevin Randleman and a decision over a guy making his MMA debut.

What are the fights left to make for Rio?

Here a few of my fights I’ve heard floated:

Royce vs. Sakaraba (or Hughes II)
Big Nog vs. Schaub

Here are my ideas:
Belfort vs. Belcher
Maia vs. Sexyama
Maiquel Falcao vs. Munoz
Paulo Thiago vs. Mike Pyle
Fabiano vs. Demetrious Johnson

Not taken it easy on Belcher

Remember, by the time of UFC: Rio Belcher will have been out for more than a year. Giving him Vitor is tad much for Belcher’s first fight back from a career-threatening injury.

by KAN0 on Apr 17, 2011 12:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Belcher is the one who said he only wants big fights with big names.

I believe he said that before his injury

by KAN0 on Apr 18, 2011 12:57 AM EDT up reply actions

No, he tweeted that (it is not a direct quote though) at the end of January 2011 iirc, when announcing that he was ready to resume training.

Fabiano was released by Zuffa a few weeks ago,

and Mighty Mouse doesn’t need to be fighting anyone coming off a loss. Nor will Pyle, on a 3-fight winning streak, be matched up with Paulo Thiago coming off back to back losses.

by Scott Haber on Apr 17, 2011 12:33 PM EDT up reply actions

that's odd that they would release Fabiano

after 1 loss to the 2nd best guy in the division.

I think it's more the fact

that his wins have been underwhelming, and his losses have been embarrassing, given the fact that as a highly regarded BJJ black-belt, he got submitted by guys who are quite a bit lower on the food chain in the submission grappling world.

And it wasn’t like he was getting dominated on the ground or beat up with strikes before being submitted…he dove right into Mackens’s triangle, and offered Benavidez his neck repeatedly before Joe finally decided to cinch it in. Not very impressive for someone looking for a spot in the post-merger UFC.

by Scott Haber on Apr 17, 2011 2:29 PM EDT up reply actions

It’s also because he wanted to return to 145 and they didn’t want him to, from what I understand.

It’s confirmed, just scroll up.

Struve also has a dance partner in UFC 130. They should do Big Nog vs Schaub if he is healthy by then.

Hope Forrest is in Vintage form. Would love to see him beat Shogun again. I like Shogun I just can’t stand his coach.
